BEEF ISLAND, VI- The British Virgin Islands Airports Authority (BVIAA) is intensifying its focus on Human Capital Development as part of its strategy to enhance its organisational effectiveness and its competitiveness in the regional aviation industry.

As such, twelve (12) members of staff in the Operations Department recently underwent training and certification in the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Operations Diploma Programme.

ACI is the leading organisation for promoting excellence in the aviation industry globally.

As a global leader of airport education and training, ACI’s Global Training Programme provides high-quality, comprehensive training solutions to build the capacity of airport professionals and foster airport excellence through the development and promotion of aviation standards and best practices in the industry.

BVIAA staff members who participated in the Airport Operations Diploma Programme were exposed to all the facets of activities associated with an airport from airside operations and landside to terminal operations, equipping them with key knowledge and tools necessary to proactively address the essential operational and business needs of 21st century airports.

The qualification comprises of the completion of three certificates courses: Airside Operations, Terminal and Landside Operations and Airport Business Operations. The certification enhances participants’ knowledge of overall airport operations and the delivery of world-class customer service.

The BVIAA intends to continue its human capital development focus by ensuring relevant training for staff across the other departments of its operations to enhance the level of service and capacity of the organization.

“As we continue the development and implementation of our strategic plan the capacity to translate a vision into reality rests with all our people.  It is with this at the forefront of our planning that we grow our partnership with the Airports Council International to expose our people to adaptable international best practices’’ – Kurt A.G. Menal, Managing Director
