SAN FRANCISCO, California, USA- Local spirits brand BVI VODKA was awarded a Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition held on Friday, April 28, 2023.

The product, which is made in Tortola, [British] Virgin Islands, placed second in the competition dubbed the largest and most prestigious spirits competition in the world and nicknamed ‘The Oscars of Spirits.’

Spirits that receive the Silver Medal in the competition are said to be “outstanding spirits that show refinement, finesse, and complexity” and “are among the best examples of their categories”.

The brand’s Marketing Manager Craig A. Lake told our news centre that this was a signature move for BVI VODKA, which started the venture only about a year and a half ago.

“It was an opportunity that was placed on the table for us to take part in and put the BVI brand on it; and it’s being well accepted…

“We decided to take part in it like any other competition because if you don’t take part in competition you will not know where you stand in the industry that you’re looking to cater to…,” Lake established.

'We feel good!'- Craig A. Lake

Mr Lake, who explained that the team is quite ecstatic about the award said this is an excellent opportunity to further advance, market and further establish the brand.

“It’s a good look for us because if persons don’t see the impact that you’re making on a national level you’ll not be appreciated for what it is.

“We feel good. In anything that you want to take part in, entrepreneurs…you of course have to believe in your product and if you cannot push your own product then no one else will believe in it for you…and that’s what we’ve been trying to do with BVI vodka from the time we start- it is believing in our product and pushing our product,” Lake said.

He explained that his team is also looking to promote the brand by sponsoring events and other community ventures.

Lake noted that they have already set aside approximately $75,000 this year to participate in various local community events.

“We want to give back to the community…from proceeds that we’ve received from selling the vodka…So persons can reach out to us…We just want people to know that BVI VODKA is here and if you haven’t tasted it please go on out and taste it,” he noted.

The product which is being sold in a 750 ml bottle is available at Road Town Wholesale and Botella on Pier Park.

Congratulations BVI Vodka on winning second place. The logo should show a coconut tree and the sun, or a sailboat, showing the beautiful Virgin Islands. Again, congratulations to you all.

I was in RTW today and did see the tall bottle of vodka. It can have a coconut tree or sailboat right where the "V" is. The bottle is very noticeable but has no Caribbean look. With that being said, Congratulations on coming in second place.

Here's an example of how different people respond to the same thing differently - I like the bottle. It has clean lines and a sleek, sophisticated look. It caught my attention when I saw it in the store at the pier park.
