GEORGETOWN, Guyana, SA- The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has won the Nathan Dundas Cruise Port of the Year Award, a leading regional accolade, as it marks 35 years of service.

The honour was conferred during the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 56th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, staged in Georgetown, Guyana, from October 25 to 28, 2026.

The award acknowledges outstanding performance and tangible progress in cruise port operations, spanning infrastructure upgrades, efficiency, passenger experience, safety, security and environmental sustainability.

BVIPA was represented at the conference and awards presentation by Board Chairperson Dion A. Stoutt, Board Member Jeremy A. Vanterpool, Operations Manager Bryan Scatliffe and Warehouse Officer Wilford Blyden.

Stoutt said the recognition demonstrated the Authority’s ongoing advancement and unwavering pursuit of high standards.

A milestone for the Authority

Acting Managing Director Dean B. Fahie said the award reflects the collective contribution of BVIPA staff and its partners, particularly as the organisation commemorates 35 years in operation.

“This prestigious award reflects the dedication of our employees, the strength of our partnerships and our commitment to excellence. As we celebrate 35 years of service, this recognition reinforces our vision to continue transforming our ports and strengthening the Virgin Islands’ position within the Caribbean maritime industry,” Fahie stated.

The achievement comes as the Authority observes its 35th anniversary under the theme, “Our Journey. Our Success. Transforming the Future Together!”

Back-to-back regional recognition

The cruise honour follows BVIPA’s win of the CSA’s Ludlow Stewart Container Port of the Year Award in 2025. Together, the awards place the Authority among the region’s standout performers in both passenger cruise services and cargo operations.

Named after the late Nathan Dundas, a prominent advocate for the Caribbean cruise sector, the prize honours ports that show a strong commitment to developing and strengthening the regional cruise industry.

The CSA’s annual gathering unites maritime executives, port authorities and industry partners to promote regional cooperation, innovation and sustainable development across the sector.

The latest award further elevates the Virgin Islands’ standing as a Caribbean cruise destination and underscores the central role that efficient, safe and modern port operations play in supporting tourism, trade and the wider economy.
