ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Team BVI won its first match against Montserrat in straight sets 3-0 ( 25-14, 25-4, 25-10) in the First Round of the NORCECA Men’s Pool F of the 2014 FIVB World Championships Qualifiers, on Thursday June 7, 2012.

The team took just 53 minutes to romp to an uncomplicated win at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex with triumphant Coach, Stephen Payne stating that, “the match was not as competitive as I had hoped, but the team will improve in intensity and performance.”

Payne’s opposite number, Denfield Morris, admitted that his players are using the tournament to whet their appetite for further participation in competitive Volleyball.

Captain of the Territory’s team, Neville Braithwaite in assessing the match said: “We did not know what to expect from Montserrat as we were playing them for the first time, so we will use it as gauge, a launch pad for what we plan to do in the rest of the tournament”.

Captain of the Montserrat outfit, Collis Rankin, concurred that his team’s inexperience showed in their opening match, but hopes for improvements as the tournament progresses.

The opening game of the tournament saw Dominica overcome St Kitts 3-2 having been up by one, pegged back to one all, down 2-1 and then held their nerve to level the match before taking the final set 17-15 for the win.

Reports on the evening’s games from day one will follow and action continues on today Friday June 8, from 9 a.m. with St Kitts facing Montserrat and the BVI playing Dominica in the morning session.

This evening, the Men’s tournament wraps up with the Final and the 3rd/4th place play offs.

Volleyball physical condition is one of the most important aspects in a volleyball player's preparation and training to be ready to the coming obstacles of the volleyball matches of all season, putting aside the technical part of knowing the game and be focus on the team's game style and goals, this is a main issue, how to know how many matches a volleyball player can play by season? And, how to re-organized the team with different players every in some small islands states. my two cents
