ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The BVI Christian Council, a local religious organisation, has pledged its full support to the upcoming Gun Amnesty in the Virgin Islands (VI) done in collaboration with the Government, Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and the Governor, John J. Rankin CMG.

The two-week “Illegal Firearms / Gun Amnesty commenced today, Monday, April 4, 2022,  and ends on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

“The Council is making a passionate appeal to anyone who is in possession of an illegal firearm or any prohibited weapons to turn them over directly to the police, or to a trusted person who will in turn ensure that the said firearm is turned over to the Police Department, without fear of prosecution,” the organisation said in a statement released today, April 4, 2022.

BVI Christian Council joins plea

The organisation said the passionate plea goes out to families, friends, and the community at large.

"The goal is to rid our homes, and streets of illegal weapons, and eradicate bloodshed in our communities and the restoration of tranquillity, and a peaceful co-existence in these Virgin Islands and other jurisdictions at large.”

The BVI Christian Council added that as a result of guns, the VI has experienced the pain associated with the loss of our sons, daughters, brothers, uncles, sisters, close friends or even acquaintances through the acts of gun violence.

“The BVI Christian Council emphasises the value of taking advantage of this amnesty period to avoid any possible future detrimental acts which will impact the livelihood and lives of our loved ones,” the organisation added.

During a gun amnesty by the RVIPF in July 2015, some 11 firearms were turned in, including a 30-30 rifle; a .357 Magnum handgun along with 27 rounds of ammunition; a M-1911 .45 semi-auto pistol; a .38 snub noise revolver with 50 fifty rounds of ammunition; five air rifles and two air pistols.

This is a good move; We wish it had happened sooner but happy you’ll finally choose to come out. We’re in a new era and time and apparently the influencers of this generation who can do amazing thing’s are all part of the “We outside massive “ Those who doesn’t want to be viewed as unpopular. The street code support still
having fake friends attend funerals while hiding and lying to family members over and over again. This place is toooo small and everyone basically cool with the victim on either side of the situation. Nothing will change until a mindset is changed within the “we outside massive”

BVIChristian should have spoken out a long time ago. That council was formed for the protection of our society in a Christian way. There are many things in the community they need to speak about. That council should be a protecting arm for this territory.

Let me just say this, who vex don't like truth. From you is a christian automatically you are a wicked person involve in telling lies while pretending to be righteous. For example, christians go around saying its god who make them when its a fact that your parents made you.

Of course they support this. They have no ideas and believe criminals care about penalties. They believe turn a blind eye to corner dice games, horse racing and lotteries means you are a godly state but to have legalized taxable gambling sends us straight to hell. They believed a dutty wine dance was worth asking the premier to ban a performance artist while the school children did the dance in school not even knowing who the artist was. What a useless waste of space.
