BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- The BVI International Arbitration Centre (BVI IAC) will host BVI Arbitration Week in March 2026.

The activity is a gathering of practitioners, decision-makers, and thought leaders committed to shaping the future of international arbitration.

Chief Executive Officer of BVI IAC, Ms Shan M. Greer, who was the guest on Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, January 26, 2026, explained that the week will essentially be one of conversations.

“The conversations are with persons who are experienced in arbitration, are experienced in the different industries that choose arbitration, with a particular focus in the Caribbean.”

Caribbean has solutions to offer

The theme for this year’s activity is ‘Caribbean Solutions, Global Impact’, and Ms Greer said it is an important one, as more developed regions often think that because the Caribbean is a small region, significant transactions are not taking place.

“In addition to that, they seem to forget that we have innovation, we have a lot of talent in the region, and we have solutions to problems and are providing them, we just haven't been vocal about it as other regions do, and so we want to show that we have Caribbean solutions that create global impact.”

2026 programme

Construction disputes, FinTech, oil and gas, shareholders disputes are among the areas for discussion during BVI Arbitration Week, March 23 to 27, 2026.

“We’ll be looking at what’s going on in the Caribbean, how are we innovating and how are we making it easier for people to resolve their disputes effectively so that we can ensure that even though we’re small, we’re still making our mark in the region,” Ms Greer said.

She added that given the current political climate, there will be knock-on effects.

“As small countries, we’re going to feel it, and because of that, it means…you can prepare for it.”

BVI Arbitration Week is a biennial activity.
