BVI Airports Authority to host biennial simulation exercises at Virgin Gorda & Anegada Airports

SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI- The public is notified that the BVI Airports Authority (the Authority) will be hosting its biennial emergency simulation exercises at the Auguste George International Airport (Anegada), and the Virgin Gorda International Airport (Virgin Gorda) between the period of October 7 and Thursday, November 17, 2026.

The simulation exercises are in accordance with OTAR Part 178 and OTAR Part 139 and must be performed to test the relevant operational procedures, along with testing the response time and performance of emergency personnel within the Authority and external agencies. The exercise will all be conducted during the operational hours of the respective airports.

The public is asked to note that there will be a noticeable increase in activity by the emergency services around the airport during the exercises. Public announcements will be made on the day of the simulation to ensure that there is no alarm.

The Authority continues to maintain compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Overseas Territories Aviation Requirements (OTAR), and will continue to maintain industry standards that provide a safe and efficient gateway to the Virgin Islands and the rest of the world.
