Businesses warned of increase in counterfeit notes

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is warning businesses in the Territory of an increase in the circulation of counterfeit notes.

A number of businesses have reported receiving denominations of US$20 and US$100 dollar bills, among those were two Tortola gas stations. The $20 dollar bill has the same serial number GI62448943AI9.

Businesses are asked to screen all currency notes in advance of payment. If a counterfeit note is produced for payment of goods, notify the RVIPF through its Criminal Investigation Department or Sergeant Adrian Dale in the Financial Investigations Unit at 468-5421.
