ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - A local business owner has collaborated with the Government of the Virgin Islands to enhance the Road Town Partnership Programme.

According to a government release, Ms Nona Vanterpool, Owner and Managing Partner of Vanterpool Enterprises, has initiated a project to repair a damaged railing along the roadway near Banco Popular. The railing was affected during the 2017 hurricane season.

The government views this as another positive outcome of the Road Town Partnership Programme, a public-private initiative aimed at enhancing the appearance, functionality, and safety of the capital.

Premier commends Ms Vanterpool

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) commended Ms Vanterpool for her proactive leadership and commitment to the Road Town Partnership Programme.

“This project exemplifies the spirit of partnership we envisioned for Road Town. I commend Ms Vanterpool for taking this initiative. Her actions reflect pride not only in her business but in our capital as a whole. I encourage motorists and pedestrians to exercise care while traversing the area during the works, and I urge other businesses in Road Town to follow this example by investing in the upkeep of their buildings and surroundings,” the Premier stated.

Ms Vanterpool emphasised the significance of the project as her family’s business celebrates a notable milestone this year. “Our family has been a part of the Road Town business community for over five decades. In fact, this year marks our 55th anniversary. As a business operator in the capital, I believe it is important to take personal responsibility for the external appearance of my building and to contribute to making Road Town a place we can all be proud of, a place where residents and businesses feel comfortable walking and conducting business,” she said.

'Strong example of corporate social responsibility'

The Chair of the Road Town Partnership Committee and Honourable Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism, Luce Hodge-Smith, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector.

“This is a strong example of corporate social responsibility at work. Government cannot do everything, and partnerships like these are essential as we continue to implement meaningful improvements across Road Town. We welcome the support of businesses and community members as we work together to improve the aesthetics and overall friendliness of the capital for residents and visitors alike.”

Why everything have to take a political twist with you people? If someone make a statement about a matter, oh they should run. There are still people out there with good hearts who want the best for the BVI for no reward or clap. Leave it to Nona she would have preferred that her name was not called and if she could have done and nobody know who did it, she would have.

@ She’s a real one. Like her or not, she’s a real business woman in every sense of the word. The ambiance of the store speaks for itself and customer service is unmatched. Others should be inclined to do likewise.

What does the city manager do, this railing was like that for years, the government is a waste if they can't fix a small concrete railing in the heart of road town

I was wondering today if there is no work available for our young people and if retired people cannot physically retired and give other young deserving citizens a chance. Just an observation - look at the city shuttle drivers, port security people and other jobs - a set of retired people who are receiving pensions, social security and still a salary. Nothing personal about the current city manager, but just why can't younger persons function in these roles?

That is good Nona, other buisnesses should do the same, there are so many little that can be done in and around the Capitol. Great ineciative taken there Ms Vanterpool, keep up that spirit of giving back to your comunity. By the was that same area was repaired after it was damaged some kind of a way. Apperantely a vehicle ran into and caused the last damage that was done. Just clarifying the statement made about it was damaged by huricane.
