ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Edrick Fahie, a senior immigration officer, was yesterday, September 25, 2012 fined $1500 by Magistrate Tamia Richards for offences committed in 2011.

Fahie, who led his own defence, was previously found guilty of common assault, disorderly conduct and using indecent language.

He was fined $1,000 for common assault, or an alternative of two months in prison; $250 or 30 days in prison for the disorderly conduct charge and $250 or 30 days in prison on the charge of using indecent language.

The court was informed that around 5:00am on January 25, 2011, the Virtual Complainant (VC) was on duty at the Prospect Reef Hotel, when Fahie came to the entrance and noticed there was a security barrier there.

Court records showed that Fahie lifted the barrier without asking the VC, who was the security guard at the time.

The VC put back the bar and told Fahie that he shouldn’t have done so. The defendant then allegedly told the VC that it was government's place and "I born here” asking if the VC wanted to come and rule him in his own country.

It was stated that the VC told Fahie that he was not going to allow him to enter, but changed his mind after realising that a hotel guest was in Fahie’s vehicle.

The court was informed that when Fahie was returning to the entrance, he stopped and told the guard that he can lift the barrier anytime he wants to because he was born here.

He allegedly said, “I from here and this is a government place and I can lift this barrier anytime and nobody can’t [expletive] stop me… I am a senior officer here and I will lift it and it’s my country…So [expletive] you.”

The court also heard that the defendant had allegedly assaulted the VC by shoving his middle finger at him.

Fahie is to return to court on November 16, 2012 for another matter already being heard.

iam curious WHO made him "lose" his work and exactly how did they manage to accomplish that?!! or do you for a very brief, even fleeting moment, think that his own BOORISH behaviour may have had anything to do with him "losing" his work? or do you think that is acceptable behaviour in all the circumstances?

He should have been charged with racially-aggravated assault.

The man brought this on heself! Why in God's name does being born here mean he can do what he want?
Explain me that, all of you simpleminded BVI supremacists?
Follow that logic and no one from any country have to stop at any barrier belonging to their government. An American can go any place he want in America because he born der? They could just walk right into the White House with no security check whatsoever?
Some of all you so stupid you think being born here make you superior to others. Das disgusting.
An I born here, too, so don't come talking your cow-dropping expat, islander nonsense at me.
Lock de man a way and make an example. This s NOT how our country should be going forward.
