Body of 20 y.o. Michael Poole found
This morning our news room was flooded with calls from close relatives, friends and other concerned citizens confirming the discovery of the body, which was found between Prospect Reef and Road Reef on Tortola.
However in the spirit of sympathy and upon the request of persons close to this incident this news site had conceded to withholding the information from being made public until we were satisfied that all the persons who were very close to the individual were properly notified and satisfied that it was indeed him whose body was found.
One Sofia Fay had issued a public appeal for Michael Poole at the time he went missing. She had said in her appeal that the family of Michael Poole is seeking the assistance of the public in the search for the 20-year old young man who was last seen leaving his work place at Prospect Reef at 3.00pm on Friday afternoon.
In the public appeal, Fay described Michael is 6’2”, of a slender build, and brown complexion.
“He has a shaved head, and wears a small goatee beard. He was wearing a grey, polo shirt, khaki pants, and brown shoes when he left the office. The family has taken the necessary steps to alert friends and the community and has the support of the police, and department of immigration who are on the lookout for Michael,” Fay’s appeal had said.
Earlier this morning Ms Fay had also confirmed the discovery but had declined to release further details until such time that the everyone in the family was properly notified.
The family of Michael Poole in a statement to this news site thanked the community for its support in the search for their beloved 20-year old son. “Michael’s body was recovered from the waters around Road Reef following a search conducted this morning by the police, friends and the wider community,” it said.
“This is a tragedy we cannot take in,” said Peter Poole, father of Michael. “Michael was a very bright young man who was warm, thoughtful, deeply caring, with a wonderful sense of humour. It is a difficult time for all of us and my wife, Musonda and I would like to thank everyone who has been so supportive in so many ways.”
“The police reacted promptly and have been very helpful throughout this time,” stated Mr. Poole.
The family said that Michael was born and raised in the Virgin Islands where he grew up with his parents, and younger brother, Robert. Michael attended First Impressions, Century House Montessori School, and Cedar International School. He completed his secondary education at King Edwards in Witley, UK. He had returned to the Virgin Islands recently after spending time with family in the UK and Zambia.
