ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Marshall Seenarine (Mitsubishi Pajero) was adjudged the 'King of the Streets' yesterday, August 3, 2013 when the British Virgin Islands Motor Sports Association (BMSA) held its twelfth Annual Car Show and Exhibition in the parking lot adjacent to the One Stop Mall.

The car show was the fourth in dedication to the memory of past member, Anthony ‘Big Red’ de Castro, according to BMSA President Roy M. Thomas. Mr. de Castro, the founder and former president of BMSA, passed away late December 2010 following complications from surgery.

He explained to Virgin Islands News Online that a total of twenty-two (22) local cars were involved in this year's event, which was being hosted as a free event in order to give back to the community for its outpouring of support in previous years.

Furthermore, because of the smaller scale show, Thomas said the categories were limited to a Showcase event and ‘King of the Streets’ street class amateur and ‘Grudge Match’ sound clash events among a few others.

The 'Street King' event was judged on the basis of the car that had the loudest and cleanest system while the grudge match was a head to head competition between some of the cars.

There were also several motor scooters on exhibition at the show.

There were three judges for the sound clash event and an additional two judges for the showcase event.

There were no cash prizes on offer this year with the exception of the grand prize winner but there were several trophies up for grabs for first and second place finishers.

The organisation plans to host a mega car show next year for its anniversary event on August 2, 2014 that will hopefully include all the islands that participated in the past, including St Croix, Antigua, Anguilla, Barbados and Trinidad. No venue has been announced for the event as yet.\

The SPL part of the show was not fairly Judged as both Mecca and IASCA rules state that all doors must be closed when doing this test and the when the doors open you are cheating as the windscreen flexes more...so all the guys that did open door is not offical score ...this is called bass boxing when doors are open with 3 rounds and correction on the highest score Was 154.6 not. 164.6...also try and follow one Rule book e.g IASCA..so when they come your cars are prepared for there Rules and Regulations!!

This is very correct as the word SPL means SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL so doors have to be closed for this to build pressure in the Vehicle....when doors open your not building any Pressure at all....!!
