B’More to release ‘racial unity’ music video

The song, which is just about three minutes, was penned in Trinidad and Tobago by Andrew Scott from Los Angeles who is also a writer for the designated Queen of Bacchanal- Destra and the video, which is in its final stages, is being filmed by VILM BVI. What the world needs, was released in December 2016 and the official video will be released by the end of January 2017.
“It is a both powerful, impactful and a very timely song where racism has gone back up to a high, and blacks, whites, and Latinos are not loving each other, how we supposed to love each other. I just feel that the song will just bring everyone together,” he stated, adding that the song will have an international appeal.
Feedback
According to McKenzie, he has been performing the song at various public events “and the response is really hot and I feel like with the video, the song will come to life even more.”
The young artist, who is also a talented basketball player, noted that for him, it was a way to put into focus what was happening in the world and to give back.
“I realise what was happening in the world and I realise that the world needed a song that can embrace and be powerful and say some truths and touch a little nerve, but one you call tough love in a kind of way. I figured that this would be the perfect way to do it.”
Essay competition aims to coincide with release
Meantime, students from both the primary and secondary schools are being challenged through essay writing on the topic: If you had the power to change one thing in this world, what would it be and why?
The competition began on January 6, 2017 and will end on January 20. Essays are to contain no less than 100 words. The winner will be announced on Facebook followed by the prize giving at the school.
All entries must be submitted to wearegogettas@gmail.com.
The aim of the competition is to promote the video but most importantly, to challenge the minds of the young people and to “find out what is in their minds.”
The winner will receive merchandise from B’MORE’s t-shirt and hat store named Gogettas as well as a round trip for two to St Thomas, USVI.
