ROAD TOWN, Tortola VI – With just about five persons showing up for a march against crime, poor policing, and security in the Virgin Islands on February 14, 2024, community advocate Bishop John I. Cline has called for more courageous persons to show up to events and have their voices heard.

“We don’t need a crowd, all we need is courageous people who will take a stand for their country, for the safety and security of your children and their children’s children,” he said during the march that made its way from Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park to the Office of the Governor.

Mr Cline added that the march is to pass on a better VI to the generations to come and there is no need for criminals in the VI to roam the streets and do what they want.

“We want to save the criminal-minded youth. Y'all need to stop and let down your arms. There is a better way. Your way is not the BVI way,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bishop Cline said parents also have a role to play in reducing crime and that they must take responsibility for their children who are involved in crime.

Parents set examples for children - Bishop Cline

“We want to say to parents who have children and you see they have ammunition in your house. You need to turn them in to the police. You need to take responsibility for the activity that's going in and around your house.

“This is not just a police problem, it's a community problem, it's a parental problem and we need to get a hold of this. We cannot afford to raise any further criminal-minded generations. We need our young men to know that they can earn an honest living and they don't have to resort to crime to get money,” he said.

Mr Cline said for those parents involved in criminal activities, the VI cannot afford that as an example set upon impressionable minds.

“What are you teaching your children if you're going to engage in this type of behavior? What kind of BVI will you leave for your children? And that's the message we want to send.”

You all made an announcement on radio one day before the match and when Heritage suggested that you get the word out to others it was stated that you’ll would be content to have 5 persons at the first demonstration. So tell us…what when wrong?? You got what you wanted!

Anything to positively affect change in the BVI is always low.

I don't think courage is the issue, we need more credible individuals leading the charge. With all the hidden agendas, your group has not been proven to be trustworthy, although it's a great cause.

After time wasted marching the guns on island are going to magically disappear??
As long as corruption exists there will be guns on the island. =Crime
How about more job opportunities? Raise minimum wage? Things like that might actually help.

In reference to Bishop John called for more protest march against poor policing in the BVI, as per the Topic Issue: see below.

In the volume book, name the christians Bible, read as follows in the book of Matthew Chapter five and verse nine (Matthew 5:9) Jesus said, "Blessed are the peace makers; for they shall be called the children of God.
Surely true, I don't see any blessings pronounce on those that have march and calling for more and larger amount of people to join them in further march against, as was said, by a few, "poor policing, instead of calling for marching continuing wicked robbers.
It is clear to many and I that Bishop John Cline, and his few blind fillers, has taken on a new role, of march for peace rather than seeking peace by righteous behavior.

Please, stop harassing the new governor. He and hid family needs blessings and peace, as all of us and our families do.

Sir Everything that happens here on earth, first happens in the spiritual relm , so to attack high crime it must be through prayer and fasting first from sincere hearts, because ur coming up against a demonic force it's a spirits your dealing with, its not the person they are just vessels that been used by them to carry out there wicked deeds , and if your not in order, no march can change that, doesn't matter the turn out , yes we can march ,but script declared that these kind only go out through prayer and fasting , i applauded your effort but please get wisdom on these thing first, otherwise you will ended up hurting yourself and others around because these things do not comes to play red light green light

Is marching the only recourse? Weren't people at work when this march took place? Who can afford to leave work in these hard times to go march and risk loosing their job? How about other non-violent forms of protest? Sick out? Go slow? Sit in? A well planned sick out across Industries nation wide should prove a point as well. What services do Police need? How can we not serve them like they don't serve and protect us? Not a march. This does not affect the persons who should be impacted. That is why no one went to march. We've learnt from past mistakes.

“This is not just a police problem, it's a community problem, it's a parental problem and we need to get a hold of this." NO, that is WRONG!! It is not a "community problem," and while phrases like that have become popular (because they deflect responsibility away from individuals), it is SOLELY the parents who fail to raise their children with proper values. Period, full stop. If you aren't willing to do the hard work to emotionally and financially raise a child, don't try to point the finger at "the community," because the "community" did not bring a child into this world, but rather, YOU did.

It is good that we are standing up against crime. Personally I don't see the benefits of marching. Maybe a concert. Have positive messages in skits, song and dance. That to me will get more support.

Fewer than 10 people for an anti-crime march? Seems like people don’t really care. It would be nice if errant youth were to stop after being asked politely, but that’s never happening.
