ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The hugely anticipated rematch between super heavyweights Kyle J. Ricketts aka 'Scoop' and Omari Martin aka 'Binky', scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 14, 2023, has been postponed.

The two were down to clash in a 50-metre ‘dash’ at A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds as part of a family event that would have seen other races, including between politicians, as well as bouncy castles for children.

“It will be postponed until further notice due to some matters beyond our control, but so far we want to say thanks to the public for their enthusiastic support of the event and we look forward to setting a new date shortly,” event promoter Colin C. Lloyd aka DJ Mac Milli told our newsroom today, January 13, 2023.

In the first meeting, on August 1, 2022, 'Scoop' got the better of 'Binky', although some of Binky’s supporters complained about crowd interference.

A massive crowd had gathered for the showdown between the big men.

So happy to hear about the postponement, but it should actually be canceled for these young men's health. The committee should still have a day of fun with other activities instead of the race.

It was good while it lasted but let’s be real, the hype gone already. Let these guys focus on improving themselves instead of being entertainment for idle people.

This is just glamorization obesity, an unhealthy condition. Scoop and Binky shoukd assisted and encouraged in improving their health and well-being. Their condition are being exploited for the entertainment of others. It is abuse for cheap entrainment. The BVI is an unhealthy community ravaged by chronic, eg, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, etc. It feasts on high fat, salt, sugar and calorie unhealthy diet. Several decades ago its diet was mostly non-processed organic food, ie, fresh fish, meat, vegetables, ground provision, etc. The community was more active, walking more and almost everywhere. Help Binky and Scoop, not enable them in their unhealthy state.

This is no laughing master. Scoop and Binky are morbidly obese which is a seriously and dangerously unhealthy condition that if not urgently address can be fatal. Has the organizers required that both Scoop and Binky undergo a physical exam before engaging in this spectacle? Are going to assume responsibility if something goes wrong? Sorry is not enough, for death cannot be corrected. It is final with no recovery. It is no laughing matter. What entertains us is a serious health issue for Scoop and Binky. They are humans and shoukd be respected and treated with value and dignity. Life is precious.
