ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands (VI) youth initiative the ‘Big Dream Group’, founded by Mr Stephon D. Mactavious in an effort to paint some positivity in the Territory amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, is launching a new initiative called the ‘You can be anything’ campaign.

Set to officially launch on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Group founder Mr Mactavious, speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), said the initiative came out of recognising that it is a stressful time where a lot of people are worried and afraid of the current COVID-19 situation.

“When you hear dream big, it’s an infectious saying, and we want everything that we do, to be infectious… we have to do something that will inspire, motivate or spread some kind of positivity throughout the entire Virgin Islands whether it be the British, USVI, everybody because all of we are one,” he said.

Spreading positivity

Mr Mactavious said the aim of the campaign is to saturate the Territory with positive messages of hope and he encouraged businesses to hop on board with their own campaigns and initiatives.

“I just want to spread positivity throughout the whole entire Virgin Islands. I want businesses to put out things, whether it be a track, their employees wearing special t-shirts, whatever it is, we want to make sure that energy, that message is out and about,” he said.

“You can be anything, imagine the possibilities, so it don’t matter if we are going through this pandemic right now, we still have to find time to build us, to work on you,” he said.

Stay focused!

Mr Mactavious encouraged all in the Territory to continue making plans and dreaming big since the pandemic will eventually pass, adding that when worrying about bills and other issues, intercepting a positive message can change the state of mind for the good.

That sentiment of 'you can be anything' is nobel and looks good in print, but the reality on this island is that you better have the right last name and the right "connections" or you may as well forget it. Too much envy, BS, and greed.
