THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI- Governor Daniel Pruce has said being Governor is a job he’s always wanted.

Appearing on the ‘Too Inquisitive Podcast’, hosted by Lawrence A. Kirton-Wheatley, aka ‘Bunchie’, that aired on YouTube on March 31, 2025, Governor Pruce was asked to divulge one thing about himself that the people of the Virgin Islands (VI) do not know.

Mr Pruce said he considers the job of Governor as a great privilege, as it was the fortunate consequence of a long period of selection and preparation.

Vacancy was advertised across UK civil service

Governor Pruce was sworn in as the 15th Governor of the VI in January 2024, succeeding former Governor Mr John J. Rankin.

As a diplomat for over 30 years, serving in various roles across multiple countries, he said the job was advertised across the United Kingdom (UK) public civil service.

“I, like many others, applied. This is a job that I've always wanted. I always thought would be a fantastic role,” he shared, adding, “There's a written application, you're sifted. There's then an interview. If the interview panel thinks that you might be suitable for the job, they recommend your appointment.”

In his case, he explained that his recommendation for appointment was sent to the UK’s Foreign Secretary, and upon his agreement forwarded the recommendation to the Prime Minister.

“The final say so goes to Buckingham Palace and to the king himself, and it’s only at that point, once you've gone to all of those stages, that your appointment is confirmed.”

The Governor added of the road to becoming Governor, “There's a long process of selection and scrutiny that you go through to get here, and rightly so.”

While this seems to be Governor Pruce’s dream job, he has come under tough criticism from the Virgin Islanders for some of the decisions he has taken.

Here is the thing we need to understand - NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE US! Why is it that having demanded control over our OWN future so we can elect our OWN government that we are then relying on the governor to root out corruption? Is we OWN people stealing from us! It's OUR elected officials that are focused on their own self enrichment and first class flights who are mismanaging OUR resources. So it is up to US to root out their corrupt asses. WE get the government we deserve. So vote in BETTER if you want better for your children and your children's children.

There comes a time when silence becomes dishonesty. You can try to silence a revolutionary, but you can never silence a revolution. Colonialization must be eradicated in all forms and structures.

Mental Enslavement is far worse than physical chains. Everyone of them come to our shores with the same script - To maintain the STATUS QUO of control over the mentally enslaved for the Empire.

And of course, in their world- built on soo many lies, they become very unsettled, very uncomfortable, very fearful with a free thinking mind who dare to challenge their status quo, because free thinkers do not destroy the world, we wake it up.

I leave with this: The mindset of a colonizer through this analogy. "The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe. The axe was clever and convined the trees that since his handle was made of wood, he was one of them." They're not like us. Their dominance of control will soon be dismantled and the reverse will rule. FEAR not.

    I will not be silenced.

Sadly, no blacks- male nor female, can apply!

Oops, I forgot:Coming from a country that can never recognize reparations for slavery, that's understandable!

The #1 thing about a successful tenure, or doing a good job is making a visible or obvious positive difference or change. .With all the evidence and knowledge of criminal activities and unethical decisions in high places, a whole lot of us are disappointed, we are not seeing that positive change or difference.

The Guv is keeping it real. Of course, he wanted to be governor. His burning desire to be governor is consistent with colonialism. Colonialism is exclusive, control, brutality, exploitation, expropriation, rape, etc.Colonialism is about power, advocating policy by stronger power over weaker power, extending the colonizing power and influence through force of conquering and colonizing. It is about might is right, where greed meets opportunity, false civilizing mission ( The White Man’s burden), it is about what the colonialist view as the natural order of domination,ie, the strong ruling over the weak. Moreover, it is about patronizing.

How is it in the 21st Century that a Virgin Islander cannot be elected or appointed as governor of their homeland, the Virgin Islands. The position of governor is earmarked for white men. The UK- appointed Governor of the Virgin Islands is master of all he surveys, blessed with unilateral power. The Guv is living his best life with his own flag, supported by the Virgin Islands taxpayers. The Virgin Islands taxpayer for board and lodging, telecommunications, utilities, transportation, entertainment, food, etc..It is a privilege reserved for White men. No Virgin Islander of African descent need apply. In any event, Virgin Islanders may deserve how they are being treated. They are appeasers who feels that white ice is colder than black ice, that they cannot lead and effective manage their own affairs, steppin and fetchin, practicing and embracing meritorious manumission., etc. Hear dis ya. Stop the self-hatred, petty bickering, etc. Shed the Willie Lynch philosophy of distrust, fear, envy., etc. Time to fling that mental conditioning in the dung heap. Meanwhile the governor as another blogger noted is enjoying being a whale in a small pond at BVI taxpayers expense.

Frantz Fanon:” Colonialism is Violence in its natural state.” Che Guevara :” Liberators do not exist. The people liberate

In this podcast, the governor was asked about some cultural ties and similarities between the BVI and UK. Struggling, he listed to prison system,,ie, HMP,, a collection of stamps at the Government House Museum. The prison reference was important. The colonialism focus was on building prison for controlling, ie, incarcerating the brutes, not educating them. Where is the Her Msjesty’s High School in the BVI? Nevertheless, there is a His Majesty’s Pridon ( HM). Up and down the former UK colonies, one can find prisons similar to the barbaric old HMP on Main Street, Road Town,,Tortoia. So the Government ached to become a colonial master? Did it prick the Guv’s conscience that no Virgin Islander could be governor of the BVI? Or that was the norm.? Is he ok with the BVI being conquered and colonized and BVI forced to cover the cost for their conquered and colonized? Is this crusading? When will this chain of colonization, exploitation, crusading, etc., be broken? When will the BVI be shaken out of their slumber? When will Virgin Islanders stop being the other, less than, a underclass, et? When will the mental conditioning end? When will the BvI can the training wheels? When will the leadership lessness stop? When will the divide, polarization,, etc., end?

@ Sambo, it seems as if you are a prisoner and living rent free in the head of the colonialists at Mount Olympus..Guv, Daniel Pruce, hope you were getting too excited.,So you were bubbling up with euphoria wanting to be governor of a UK colony, controlling the life of descendants of slave? What were your plans of actions? Did your plans of action include ensuring and recruiting fellow Britons for jobs in the BVI at the expense of qualified Virgin Islanders? Was one of your goal as de facto head of state to acquire more self/governance for the BVI? Does snake in the grass ring loudly at loud decibels?

Today we are talking about solutions to our traffic problems around the roundabout. If these appointed governors truly cared about us and our progress, besides building prisons and expanding the police force, he can solicit the Royal Core of Engineers to help design and construct a two-way overpass with ramp for the disabled, across the roundabout, tall enough to allow any equipment/vehicle to pass without disruption.

Thus, improving the free flow of traffic in the area, and at the same time, ensuring the safety of pedestrians crossing the street there. The overpass can be esthetically timeless to enhance the future vision of our town. All paid by them/UK.

Everyone here so quick to call the man a racist and a colonizer yet look at how your own indigenous BVIlanders have run the county? Just look at the billions of your tax dollars they have squandered. Sewage still running in the streets, no running water in significant portions of the territory, failed utility grid, broken roads, broken schools, broken hospital, airplane that vanished with your money, asia bank deposits that vanished with no consequences. A primeir who tried to use your ports for narco trafficking. I can go on an on here yet you want to blame the UK and play this victim card all day. If it were not for the little UK oversight this place gets we would be living in Haiti.
