ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A new event will round out the 2015 Road Running Season, when on Saturday December 19, 2015 the Ring Of Fire, presented by KPMG, takes place with a start and finish in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola.

Billed as a teaser for the 2016 Tortola Torture, the run features an 11.65 mile reverse loop with 3.546 feet of climbing and 3.546 feet of descending. The race is 44% uphill, 44% downhill and just 12% takes place on flat ground.

Presented by Sponsors, KPMG, the Ring Of Fire starts at 3pm in Cane Garden Bay in front of the Cane Garden Bay Police station. Runners will head up Cane Garden Bay hill to Rudy’s Bar and turn right along the Ridge Road. Participants will then follow the road to the Sage Mountain T-junction and turn right down Windy Hill and all the way back to CGB Police Station for one loop.

If runners are doing two loops as either individuals or as a team, then the second loop is done in reverse.

There will be one water stop on the Ridge Road.

The race is open to individuals and teams and both can opt for the one lap or two lap race. There is an entry fee of $25 per person, which includes race t-shirt, medal and free hydration at the end.

Registration starts at 2pm at Elm Beach Bar.

Families can chill on the beach and there will be free drinks and some great deals on food at the After Party at Elm Beach Bar.

You expect a couch-potato to just up and jump into the Ring of Fire? That course is a lung buster.

This is a great course! I have only two concerns: 1) Why so late in the day and 2) Why only one water stop for a 12 mile race?
