‘Be prepared for what’s going to happen’- Skelton-Cline
Speaking during his weekly radio show, ‘Honestly Speaking’ on ZBVI 780 AM, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Skelton-Cline warned, “we are in trouble”.
During his programme, which was also entitled ‘We are in trouble’, Skelton-Cline spoke about the issues facing the world with wars and the current situation in the United States of America.
Internal & external things affect us
“We are in trouble because of some of the things that we are doing, but we are in trouble because there are external powers that are conducting and behaving themselves beyond our control.”
Because the decisions of external powers are beyond our control, he said the Virgin Islands will be impacted by what they do and are, in fact, already experiencing the consequences.
Be prepared
“We have to do what we have to do and brace ourselves for some of what is happening and some of what is going to happen. And the basics…food, water, energy; three basic needs for any country.”
Skelton-Cline urged everyone to make their own preparations for what is coming in the near future.
“It don’t take but 48 hours to clear all the grocery stores in this country, 48 hours, we saw that during COVID. I am telling you… don’t wait for any government, you have to start preparing your family with basic necessities for what's getting ready to happen.”
He called on residents to put away non-perishable items, toilet paper, canned goods, rice, flour and sugar.
“Anybody else telling you this? I’m telling you this…It’s not getting ready to happen, it’s happening.”
The US has recently ramped up its naval presence in the Caribbean, deploying multiple warships as part of what it has said are efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance regional security.
Additionally, the US military has been conducting operations that include air support and surveillance, with reports of military aircraft stationed in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. This military presence is framed as a counternarcotics mission, although it has raised concerns about potential confrontations with the Venezuelan government.
The US has also been controversially dropping missiles on vessels with people deemed to be seeking to transport illegal drugs to the US.
