GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI – “You don’t have to join the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) to ensure that a VIP Government pays the kind of attention that you might deserve,” Chairman of the VIP Honourable Julian Fraser, RA (R3) said to a young man who posed a question to him.

The man was one of several young men who turn up at the VIP’s community meeting at Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke on July 16, 2014.

The young man put to Hon Fraser, “So if it happen that nobody in Jost Van Dyke don’t join the Virgin Islands Party to be a part of the party… is there somewhere to make sure that the presence of the Government would still be active over here as they supposed to be?”

While making clear that a government is for all the people and not just some of the people and that a VIP Government would not turn a blind eye on any section of people of the Territory when in power Honourable Fraser also said that it is always better to be on board as opposed to hearing from the outside.

“I am sure that you would agree with me that being in the room is always better than hearing what happened in the room and all I am encouraging you to do is to be in the room,” said Hon Fraser.

Speaking to the young man and others present at the community meeting Hon Fraser said that being a part of the VIP would be an advantageous place to be as they would be able to influence decisions.

“Even if your idea hasn’t been followed through sometimes you can stop bad influences from being followed through in the room so that’s why I am encouraging you,” he said.

“I have a special passion for the youths….. I am [realizing] that my time is coming towards an end and if it does end and I don’t see where…the replacement is coming from when I step off the scene then I would have failed,” he said.

“Get involved in politics, get involved in what’s taking place,” Hon Fraser challenged the youths of Jost Van Dyke. “The next administration has to go through another constitutional advancement. What is that advancement going to be? I want a young person at that table at that time when we are discussing this because it’s going to be for you.”

Hon Fraser said that he is availing himself to sitting and discussing with youths the ways they can influence the future of the Territory.

What people should be now questioning is the NDP intention for the bvi people. Just exactly what do they want and mean for us.

Politics in the BVI is responsible for most of the degradation and general problems in the Island.

The man Fraser is blessed talents and strong well to lead the BVI and can take on even the toughest problems in the BVI without selling out, that is why we need him to become the new premier.

The youth do not need to be involved with VIP or NDP or the way they run politics. The youth need to stand up and set their own way of doing politics. Take it in a new direction. That is the only way change happens.
