The play of the young girls has been both dominant and skilfull. Many have played at Primary Level this year, but how the BVIFA will keep them interested is yet to be seen. Photo credit: Charlie E. Jackson/VINO

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – With no repeat of last year’s Grand Finale planned, the Schools League will close out today with a trip to Anegada and a last hoorah on the A.O. Shirley Grounds.

The curtains will come down on the league today, with two matches at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds starting at 9:45 a.m. Another three matches will be played on Anegada.

Despite the success of last year’s finale, which has often been held up as a wonderful day of football by the BVIFA Executive, it will not be repeated due to many unconfirmed circumstances including the fact that the Age Group winners are already cut and dried, there is no time to organize such an event and that the league has already gone on far too long as it is.

Whatever the reason it is a shame, but the hardworking Cassandra Gregg will no doubt be thankful today has come and she can take a well earned break from her duties.

Strange though that Cassandra did such a great job of keeping all the schools, a record 700 odd players organized and at the right grounds at the right times and yet the High School League petered out into an outwardly meaningless championship, beset by forfeitures, late arrivals and lack of players.

However, back to the BDO League and in the most recent action, Max Kreuzer had the lone goal as Montessori walked off 1-0 winners in their U7s matchup over Enid Scatliffe Red, to earn his team’s MVP honors. Haleem Jacobs was the game MVP for Enid Scatliffe Red.

Game MVP T’Quan Stoutt and Eric Bobb had two goals each in leading Leanora Delville past St. Georges 4-0, in their U12 division contest. Stoutt scored in the 8th and 15th while Bobb’s goals were four minutes apart, coming in the 14th and 18th. Stephan Delon was St. Georges’ game MVP.

Althea Scatliffe and Enid Scatliffe Green played to a 0-0 draw.

Jerome Parkins’ hat-trick fired First Impressions U9’s past Claudia Creque, 5-0, and earned him game MVP honors. Parkins open the account in the 8th minute, then added goals in the 15th and 25th. Jalen Prentice connected in the 10th and Sekai Questelles in the 26th. For Claudia Creque, their game MVP was Kimberly Howell.

Cedar 2 U12’s used two goals a piece by game MVP Sam Childs and Luca Reich to overhaul Seventh Day Adventist 5-2. Childs had the match’s first goals in the 9th and 15th minutes of play. Liam Blok added a third in the 20th before Reich’s scores in the 24th and 29th. Devin Jones and team MVP St. Joy Schnider connected for Seventh Day in the 35th and 38th.

Stefano Tasking scored successive goals in the 16th and 17th minutes of play, to lead Cedar 1 past Robinson O’Neal 3-1, and earn game MVP recognition for his effort. Luca Chalwell had the other goal in the 35th. Robinson O’Neal’s game MVP Kemroy Harrigan had their goal in the 31st.

Game MVP Shamori Palmer led First Impressions to a 3-0 victory over Claudia Creque, as all the scoring was completed within a five minute span. Palmer scored in the 19th, Jamal Prentice in the 21st and Guiliaume Parkins—the league leader—added another to his tally in the 24th. Claudia Creque’s game MVP was Sandra Williams.

Joyce Samuel used two goals by game MVP Giovanni Grant and Timothy Lewis, to overpower Enis Adams, 5-2. Grant scored in the 3rd and 29th while Lewis’ scores were in the 24th and 39th. Dexron Durant had a first half score four minutes in.

Enis Adams’ game MVP Miguel Marshall scored in the 10th and 12th minutes of play.

In Joyce Samuel’s next game against Corner Stone, game MVP Lewis and Grant did all the scoring during a 5-0 win. Lewis connected four times—with goals in the 10th, 18th, 34th and 36th while Grant got his score in the 25th. Devante Samuels was Corner Stone’s game MVP.

Joyce Samuel whitewashed Seventh Day Adventist, 7-0. Timothy Lewis had a hat-trick with scores in the 12th, 18th and 29th. Game MVP Kerry Vilbrun opened the scoring binge 11 minutes in. Giovanni Grant added scores in the 28th and 30th. Ericca Morris was Seventh Day Adventist’s game MVP.

T’Quan Stoutt had the match’s only score as Leanora Delville shut down First Impressions, 1-0 and earned the game MVP crown. Justin Smith was First Impressions’ game MVP.

St. Mary’s forfeited their match to Cedar 2.
