BD Basketball semi-finals all set!
The much larger ASPS team scored easily and frequently, while their smaller opponents struggled to make any possession tell offensively, scoring just 5 points in either half.
Kedrick Matthew recorded a double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He also made 8 steals and 3 assists. Renrick Massac Junior added 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist as ASPS made their presence felt in the second half outscoring their opponents 10-2 in the 3rd and 10-3 in the 4th quarters.

Ivan Dawson’s Requan Minott recorded 5 rebounds and 6 steals but was unable to convert numerous shots at the basket. Daniel Harrigan netted 4 points and 8 rebounds.
ASPS will now face St Georges Primary School on Wednesday afternoon November 16, 2011.
St Georges was awarded their game by forfeiture following the non-appearance of Leonora Delville Primary School at game time.
In Zone B, Joyce Samuel Primary School (JSPS) will play Cedar International Primary School on Thursday November 17, 2011.
Alexandrina Maduro Primary School (AMPS) almost “stole” victory against the Belle Vue School though and it wasn’t until deep into the 4th quarter when Malicki Thomas burst through the AMPS defense to seal the win 16-10.
AMPS constantly broke down JSPS attacks recording 15 steals, but were unable to make the possession count especially with Rafique Manning in top scoring form for JSPS. He finished with 7 points and proved the difference on the day.
By half time, AMPS had clawed their way back into the game, down by just 4, but with the starting 5 back on court for JSPS, any thoughts of a great come from behind victory were squashed.
Manning added 8 rebounds to his work, Donald Frometa scored 4 with 2 steals and 3 assists, K’Cei Moses picked up 2 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 assists, Shauliqua Fahie was a constant threat both offensively and defensively and Thomas made the all important 4th quarter points to provide the breathing space.
For AMPS, Jevonte Barnes scored 4 points with 7 steals, Germarie Brumante also scored 4 and Jaheem Chiddick made 4 steals with 2 rebounds. Samuel Gilbert also made 4 steals and picked up 3 rebounds.
After a quiet 1st quarter which ended 4-4, Cedar School piled on the pressure against Willard Wheatley Primary to finish 25-8 winners to book their place in the Zone Final.
The second and third quarters were where it all fell apart for Willard Wheatley Primary School (WWPS) with numerous turnovers, fouls and missed attempts on goal contributing to their downfall, whilst Frankie Kalama proving irrestible in moving from defense to offense to notch his game leading 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals for Cedar.
At one point, Cedar went on a 20 – 0 run that stretched from early in the 3rd quarter to deep into the 4th with Juden Chalwell scoring 5 and both Kai Turnbull and Jude Kinkead 4.
WWPS battled away until the end with Kyle Penn scoring 4, adding 4 rebounds and picking up 3 steals. Kevin Nisbett scored 2 with 2 rebounds, 2 steals and assists.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday November 19, 2011 at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex where the day’s fun will also include the All Star Game, the Shoot Out and the Skills competition.
