BD Basketball is back!
The BD Basketball organisation, led by Brian “Bash” Brewley is promising an even more exciting tournament than last year with several teams vowing to lift the title.
In 2010, Ebenezer Thomas were handed the title by forfeiture when Althea Scatlife Primary School, who had been present earlier in the day to win their semifinal, failed to reappear for the final.
Ebenezer Thomas overcame Enis Adams by 27 points to 9 in the first semifinal with Devorn Furlong named as Player of the Game for his 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Justin Solomon added 8 points with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Demoii Dagou was a lone offensive force for Enis Adams with 5 points to go with his 4 steals.
Furlong along with his brother Jevonte is no longer at the School so it will be interesting to see who fills their shoes.
Althea Scatliffe beat Francis Lettsome 34-25 in the other semi final to advance to the championship game. Player of the Game, Franklyn Penn Jr. scored 19 points with 10 steals and 1 rebound. Kedrick Matthew scored 6 points with 6 rebounds. For Francis Lettsome, Amando Richards hit 7 points with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
The two losing semifinalists met in the third and fourth place playoff matches with Francis Lettsome running out 24 to 13 winners over Enis Adams. Amando Richards was named as Player of the Game for his 8 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2011 BD Basketball Championship is scheduled for Friday October 21, 2011 also at the Multi-purpose Sport Complex.
