Bat Cave, VI’s party central!

- Showtime & Pumpa debate over who plays first

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - With a different event being held every weekend, Bat Cave is now a regular party spot in the Virgin Islands. Hosting party after party, Bat Cave is evidently the most active weekend night spot on the island of Tortola, making it the number one spot to host events.

Last evening, June 16 2012, owner of Bat Cave Kiesha Pickering, in giving the public what they want, hosted another bash where Pumpa of St. Croix and the VI's Showtime Band, were scheduled to be the acts on the line up.

Pumpa, the Kittitian born performer who now resides in St. Croix has become a favourite for the VI crowd.

With consistency, Pumpa brought the same energy he had the last time he was here. He took the crowd on a flight visiting almost every Caribbean island by singing their hits, especially from his home land of St. Kitts.

The “energy God” kept it going and going and going, and with no disappointment, the crowd kept up with him. With every beat, every verse, ever song, Pumpa had the crowd under his spell, like puppets and he kept pulling the strings as they danced.

Ms. Pickering said that she is pleased and her expectations were met, in relations to the large crowd that was housed at Bat Cave.

Drama with Showtime and Pumpa

Apart from a night of Pumpa’s sweet music, a bit of drama occurred between Pumpa and Showtime. Information reaching this news site from credible sources indicated that there was a bit of 'verbal scrabble' between the two bands.

Our sources indicated that as a result of the order of appearance of both bands, where Showtime band was to perform before Pumpa, Showtime Band hesitantly refused and argued the matter at hand.

This news site understands that both bands argued over who will take the stage first.

Our insider indicated that the argument stemmed from a recent boat ride that also hosted both performers where Showtime was forced to go first.

"Show time refused to go first because they went first the last time.”

Speaking to Ms. Pickering, she confirmed the argument and stated that she tried to resolve it. She added that with efforts to bring peace to both bands, she made a decision and informed Pumpa that he should perform first.

Virgin Islands News Online caught up with Ottley Hodge, Founder of Showtime Band, who confirmed that the band did not perform at the Bat Cave event because the "business" of the band was not met. However, he declined to comment any further on the argument.

Meanwhile, Pumpa declined to comment on the incident as well.

Showtime cannot walk in Pumpa shoes what wrong with them? IT's standard protocol that the big band plays last. What's new about that? Schups. If showtime played last people would leave after Pumpa. People hearing Showtime every single week, Pumpa is once in a while, they need to stop taking everything so personal man.

Showtime know how this thing go but want us the public to believe different.Pumpa is the Main act Showtime is the crowd teaser.Showtime get over your childish behaviour and act grown up,YOU KNOW BETTER.Whenever you go Miami or Atlanta carnival you know you dont play last. It's that type of cry cry behaviour why we cannot get a good international band on j'ouvert morning to tramp behind.

Tortola needs a classy club where grown ups can enjoy themselves. All there are are strip clubs, places overrun with youths, or geriatric bars catering to the sailing crowd. There's a large population of adults with money to spend wanting to enjoy themselves too.

Pumpa is the big band, they charge more & have more intl recognition...........Showtime members can be childish & petty esp now stating that tehy don't want to play in Batcave at all............ The foregin band is usually the feature & they know that, why don't these guys just worry about making good music & let the fans do the ratings? Why are they so petty? Esp with their teenie bopper crowds of grape soda & chewing gum. The nite would've been great if Showtime had played but as it is whenever u put a local band to play w/ somebody else there was confusion...they are ready for confusion with Primetime & they have a history of conflict with Extreme now they have issues with Pumpa, damn children

FACT THE ONLY VI VIRGIN ISLAND BAND TO BE NOMINATED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SOCA AWARDS IS WHO?? SHOWTIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ....THIS FOR THE IGNORANT PERSON THAT SAY PUMPA MORE INTERNATIONALLY KNOW. AS FAR SHOWTIME NOT PLAYER ITS THE PROMOTER FAULT , WHICH PART OF BUSINESS WAS NOT MET ACCORDING TO SHOWTIME MANAGER AYO DONT UNDERSTAND??? ALSO AYO HERE DEFENDING PUMPA ITS UP TO AYO TOLA PEOPLE...BUT PUMPA WAS IN THE JAM DISSING OUR SHOWTIME BAND BECAUSE HE HAD LEARNT THAT SHOWTIME WAS NOT GOING TO GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY AND DEFEND HIS TRASH TALK. BUT AYO LOVE THAT EH?..ONLY ON TOLA, YOU THINK ANYBODY COULD GO SK AND DIS NEW VYBES OR TRINI AND DIS MACHEL AND THEIR LOCAL SUPPORT IT???

Nominated doesn't mean win. Pumpa travels more than Showtime by far. I don't care who Pumpa disses it's not an excuse not to act professionally & mature. I don't even have to get into my showtime affliation they know how I feel already as I have told them before. Being a fan is fine but don't let it mess with your common sense, u show up to play & the promoter tells u when, if u are there u play if not u forfeit, b/c it doesn't make sense for the promoter to lose just for your ego. Also Keisha promoted Showtime & she should deliver Showtime. But it cannot be on Showtime's terms only & remember everybody got fans.

Well me personally once yo paying me properly you can put me to come on 3 in the afternoon it wouldnt matter. But seriously tho, the way i thought it went for years is that the Guest band plays last. Why spend all tha money to bring them to put them on 1st when people dont even come out to the events early? I see no reason why people need be coming to ah dance after 1 goin on 2 when the dance start @ 10. I think is time we break the people out of that late movent vibes.

Before anything was announced the times of the performances on stage should have been agreed by both bands/artists. My advice to showtime is to always remain humble, think about the fans, do what they expect of you, go out their give them your best, that's the way you'll keep rising, once you let your ego get in your way, you'll never make it off the ground. You are the first band from the BVI to get international recognition, don't glow it, keep growing, keep glowing. As for pumpa, he's a cool dude, nice music, never seen him perform however if he really was throwing aspersions about showtime band, he needs to cut it out and show respect for fellow artists and even if he thought and/or felt that way, keep it far from his performance, don't bring drama to the stage cuz my guess is people have enough drama going on in their lives and they came there to get away, to get the drama off of their minds.

how batcave woulda look if pumpa played first then showtime? I can see people saying goodnite to batcave while pumpa packing away his instruments. Some of these local bands just does kill a good flowing tempo. You all hype up to end leaving disappointed
