LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI – Two armed men, wearing black ‘hoodies,’ attempted to rob Stones Jerk Stand, in Long Bush on the main island of Tortola, this morning June 30, 2018, sometime between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM.

According to an eyewitness, one of the men escaped, while a female in the food stand ran to a nearby night club in Long Bush, with the money.

The other armed man pursued her and by the time persons in the area realised what was happening, they ran behind the armed men and inflicted some 'blows' on the man, in the nearby night club.

He was beaten up

Our news room has the name, age, photo and other details of the man, who is now in police custody, but this will not be published at this time, since he has not been formally charged with anything.

One source on the National Security Council speaking to our newsroom said, “it’s sad, his parents have tried their best with him and I could imagine the pain of his father who is a police.”

There are speculations, the alleged robber has been linked to other robberies. It’s unclear if police at this point, have gathered enough evidence on this one at Stones Jerk Stand, to charge the alleged perpetrator.

The man was reportedly not able to get any of the night's earnings and it is not known, if he needed medical attention after being rescued by the police—from being ‘beating up.’  Virgin Islands News Online, will provide details as they emerge.

Maybe that is what he needed. A good public beatdown. And to the owner, you need to give the female employee a bonus for what she did. She was not only running to protect herself, she was protecting your money.

A beautiful temporary establishment, enjoyable food (purchased many times during my last visit), and of course no need for those scoundrels. However, to the owners, please tidy-up the immediate surroundings. Please, help the Department of Health by keeping your immediate area immaculate so they can get more time to focus on other health priorities. Yes, most of my purchases were done at nights, so I did not notice the environment. Please take this as a positive. I will be back for my "Jerk Chicken and Sauce" if bless to return. I don't want to stay away due to the untidy surroundings... #LoveMyHomeLandIamPartOfNaturesLittleSecret

It’s sad you see them dudes /girls on social media going on with all kinda things when they’re all Maintain by unlawful earning. It’s embarrassing. If you can’t afford the (LIT) life then stay dim.
