ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Premier is now making arrangements to acquire the land at Manchaneel Bottom in accordance with the Compulsory Acquisition Act of the Virgin Islands (VI) stated Archibald ‘Archie’ Christian on October 13, 2011 during a National Democratic Party (NDP) meeting in Baughers Bay.

“And how he is doing it, he has to officially give notice in the gazette. He has issued one notice to date and as a result of that notice being issued it seems to mean that the land has not been acquired. He has to issue a second notice and based on that second notice he would have put into motion Government’s intention to acquire that land in Manchaneel Bottom,” he disclosed.

His statements came some four days after Premier Ralph T O’Neal, OBE had told the residents of North Sound, Virgin Gorda that the land was acquired and soon the land will be cleared.

“We have now acquired the land, don’t mind that little boy who thought I was telling lies,” the Territory’s leader had stated. “In fact later in the week, we are coming up with a surveyor and then we will start cutting the road into the land so that it can be cleared to construct the harbour,” the Premier had said referring to Christian as the “little boy”.

However, Mr. Christian, an At Large candidate insisted that as of October 13, 2011 - the land was not obtained.

“I stand here to tell you that the land has not been acquired and that the residence and citizens of Virgin Gorda need to hear when the second notice has been issued. What will happen is that he will now come to you after the fact and say I have purchased the land in Manchaneel Bottom for the people of Virgin Gorda. But he still cannot get it done because he has to also disclose to you ladies and gentlemen of Anegada and Virgin Gorda the amount that he intends to spend on that acquisition, so I just thought that I needed to set the record clear tonight for your benefit,” Christian explained.

The At Large candidate first raised the issue at a Virgin Gorda meeting in September and told residents that after some investigations found that Hon. O’Neal “has not paid one penny for that land which is now privately owned.”

Mr. Christian had also stated that Hon. O’Neal did not enter into negotiations with the owners. “How can you tell your people that you have done something when you have not in fact done anything? The truth needs to be told,” he had said.

In response to the attack, Hon. O’Neal had stated at 4th District Representative Dr. Vincent Scatliffe said, “I heard Archibald Christian say at one of the meetings that Ralph O’Neal is a liar; but everyday he lives his mortal life he will regret those words.”

You people are the sickest. If the best you could do is to desecrate Mr. Chritian's dead father, I am sorry for this country. None of this nonsense will help any of the two parties win the election. I am really sick and tired of it. Mr. O'Neal was the one who publicly asked for a clean campaign and now he has gone back on his word and is guilty of engaging in just what he asked others not to do. Why is he referring to Mr. Christian as a little boy? He is a grown married man with children and should be respected as such. some of you VIP supporters have no class or dignity. I will not vote for one VIP candidate for the mere reason that they have not told me as a voter what they intend to do to fix the problems we are facing. Tearing down the opponent will not do that. This is a new week and the divide and conquer needs to end here! It needs to stop now! We all have to live together in this community after November 7th.

Good Shephard; I agreed with you; howver hte bloggers here are most schoolchildren;i cannot imagine that they have a BA of education; just listen to the words typed on the blogging. After Nov 7 this community of people will eithere swim or float; I know they will not die; the majority of people living in Tortola are from the different islands; andd they are skilled people. If they cannot get work they will go home; and no body wants to eat beans and wire all the time; have you seen the supermarket lately; the got five cereal box onn the shelves and line them up the front and behind of the boxes there is absolutely nothing. this country will come to a grinding halt with food;if not properly managed and much people are not going to stay around waiting
