Apply for home quarantine 5-7 days before travel to VI - CEHO Lionel E. Michael

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Travelers to the Virgin Islands (VI) are being encouraged to make requests to home quarantine some five to seven days before travel.

This policy came via a public notice from the Chief Environmental Health Officer Mr Lionel E. Michael, who said the time will allow for the home quarantine inspections and approval by the Environmental Health Division.

This he says will prevent any delay in persons’ travel itinerary once they land in the territory.

Persons waiting last minute - Mr Michael 

“It is observed that persons are increasingly waiting until the last minute to apply for home quarantine and this presents a risk to the BVI community for the transmission of COVID-19. In these situations, we are unable to assess the suitability of the property for home quarantine because not enough time is given,” he said. 

According to Mr Michael, home quarantine in safe spaces is pivotal to the prevention of COVID-19 cases in the VI.

The Environmental Health Department noted that persons requesting home quarantine can email homequarantine@gov.vg or call during  284-468-5110 during standard working hours on weekdays.

    How can one apply for Home quarantine 5-7 prior to Travel when clearly we have to Travel with A negative COVID Test that is no older that 5days??How is this time span for both going to work?

      It didn't say nothing about the test which still stands within 5 days of travel. Just apply for the home quarantine 5-7 days so them could check and approve it so when you come you have no trouble.

    Thats fair enough...If the system would allow you to make that application,, Sometimes u cant get on the system or an answer back in time, or they are asking for information that they wont accept until 2 to 3 days before your flight...

    Until we don't get a dedicated team comprising of environmental health, public health, and immigration officials working in tandem from one location devoted to just re entry, the whole system will be amock.

    Why the home quarantine form not link with app.
    Had to get a family member here do it on my behalf.
    I made sure I apply a week before my travel to apply and not one never call my contact person to go do inspection..

    The system slow only how to get a reply is to go on fb or risk not being approved till same day or while your on the flight! Terrible

    This home quarantine is a joke I applied 10 days in advance to travel,and I have not heard from them yet, so I say to hell with them I am coming home,I am vaccinated, got my test , they already collected my $175.00 for the test when I get home , those people don’t have there act together, sad but true.
