HANNAH BAY, Tortola, VI- The Therapy Works compound at Hannah Bay, Tortola, was filled with over 14 companies, including three statutory bodies with vacancies at the annual Third District Job Fair on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

The Job Fair was hosted by former Speaker of the House of Assembly and businessman Julian Willock, and his Third District Committee, along with Ms Kishma P. Forbes of Virgin Islands School and Office Supplies.

Over sixty residents, mostly from the third district and all walks of life, who were seeking employment, attended. On hand were companies including Scrub Island Resort, Biras Creek Resort, Long Bay Beach Resort, One Mart/Pussers, Caribbean Cellars, Digicel BVI, Pirate’s Bight Restaurant & Bar, CCT Global Communications, BVI Airports Authority and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

The National Health Insurance & Social Security Board presented information on benefits and contributions, while the Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs’ Acting Director,  Dr Lincoln E. Bobb, was on hand and spoke about some new initiatives to help small businesses and the Trade Licenses process. 

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development also presented and had a question and answer segment with the Acting Labour Commissioner, Mervin D. Hastings and Workforce Development Manager Mrs Roxane T. De Windt-Toussaint.

Hon Lorna G. Smith, OBE addressed job fair

Junior Minister for Financial Services and Economic Development Hon Lorna G. Smith OBE (AL) addressed the Job Fair, thanking Mr Willock for his invitation. She said the government will do whatever it takes to help small businesses and improve the economy. 

Mr Willock noted that he was impressed with the turnout, both with companies and the number of residents seeking employment, adding that he looks forward to hearing the statistics on residents hired.  

He noted that his goal, along with the committee, is to empower residents of District Three. He stated that he has other plans coming for the district to keep the people active and to improve the quality of life.

Mr Willock also thanked Therapy Works for allowing the use of the Compound for the Job Fair.

The 2025 Third District Job Fair was sponsored by Nanny Cay Marina, Tortola Auto Group (TAG), Flow BVI, Triple A Trucking, Blue Divers-Nanny Cay, Patsy C. Lake of One Stop Mall and Hon. Lorna G. Smith OBE (AL).
