This is NOT the time to point fingers!!! We need to unify, if for no other reason but to give support to the families of the deceased and those that are sick... Think of how YOU can be of assistance to someone and not cause more pain instead of thinking about who caused this and that.... Please be part of the SOLUTION and not part of the PROBLEM!

Three of the last 4 victims were young, under 40. One was pregnant.

      Get vaccinated.

It will stop when we have 75% immunity. Two ways to get immunity, catch Covid or get vaccinated.
      • @rubber duck (16/07/2021, 13:29) Like (19) Dislike (20) Reply
Vaccination is the more effective choice to building immunity to Covid 19. The immunity provided by infection with Covid, alone, is not as strong and potentially not as long lasting, leaving people open to repeat infection if they remain unvaccinated.

Take slow deep breaths...and, if you are not vaccinated, go get the first vaccine. And then get the second.
And, of course, prayers for you. And for All.

      But ALL important, VACCINATE!

In western societies about 1 in 1000 die of Covid. The demographic and body pattern of the BVI suggests it could be higher here. So expect 30-50 deaths. If you don’t want to be one of them , get vaccinated.
      • Doctor Know (16/07/2021, 13:40) Like (7) Dislike (46) Reply
Statistics from other countries tell us that around 2 in 1000 die. That would be 60 dead in BVI.
        • DayTrader (16/07/2021, 15:20) Like (2) Dislike (2) Reply
It’s 2 in 100, leaving 600+ dead here. A small society such as this cannot afford that amount of loss.
          • Doctor Know (16/07/2021, 17:32) Like (1) Dislike (0) Reply
No it’s 2 in 1000 in unvaccinated countries. That reduces as people vaccinate so in the UK for example it’s currently 1.8 people per thousand over the whole time. That would be about 50 for BVI. But it is disturbing that so many young are dying here.

what's going on here?straight and simple, not enough people are vaccinated .you can do a lock down tomorrow, it will not change anything.we had our chance and we miss it.
      • Immunity (16/07/2021, 13:19) Like (13) Dislike (7) Reply
Exactly. Lock down tomorrow and then in three weeks open back to face the same thing again later in the year because people refuse to vaccinate. We will never get back to normal with so little people vaccinated if we do not have immunity. The next move is to let this run its course so that those who refuse to vaccinate can get some form of immunity. Unfortunately, that also means those with underlying conditions will die or be seriously ill with long term effects.

It's called a pandemic. An airborne, easily spread infection with a virus that can kill. No medical treatments have shown good results in treating this infection, but luckily vaccination techniques being developed for decades were used to make several different extremely effective vaccinations that nearly eliminate deaths in those vaccinated.
Now the world is experiencing out of control infection rates in the populations that haven't been vaccinated yet, either because their national governments weren't rich and powerful enough to be first in line for vaccine doses, or because their populations preferred to stick their heads in the facebook sand and believe lies.
There is absolutely nothing mysterious going on. Everything happening now has been perfectly clear to those educated people who understand these processes. Unfortunately, facebook and youtube have drowned out common sense and scientific understanding.

There are plenty of treatments . The remedies are out there but they are cheap and big money can't be made off of them .
        • Island Peep (16/07/2021, 21:17) Like (2) Dislike (0) Reply
This is a lie. If these "treatments" worked, we would not have seen millions dead worldwide. There are ways to build up your immune system (fasting is NOT one of these and will weaken you), but Vaccination is your best protection (and it's free to you and the BVI)
      • @Where have you been (17/07/2021, 07:00) Like (1) Dislike (1) Reply
That's a LIE!!! Medical treatments have shown efficacy in treating covid...IVERMECTIN...but they continue to SUPPRESS the truth and big pharma has been trying to skew the results of trials because they have a vaccine agenda. Same thing they do for cancer and all these other illnesses...cures don't make billionaires...vaccines do.

Govt. Needs to close borders and lockdown for 3 weeks to give infected persons time to heal or present as positive and quarentined then put strict entry quarentine back in place vaccinated or not

I understand your concern but locking down the country is not going to reduce spread at the rate that has already happened. What will be helpful is all those who have been exposed and those who have no need to be out and about to stay themselves at home. Healing starts with you vaccinated or non vaccinated.

Once your body contracts the virus, it will build an immune system to combat it however since the variant is changing constantly, it is highly recommended that you vaccinate to assist your immune system fight the variants as they change.

      Be blessed.
    • Nah (16/07/2021, 13:14) Like (17) Dislike (6) Reply
So your recommendation is to have strict entry protocols and have to adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for years to come because people refuse to vaccinate, while the rest of the world opens up? That was all well and good when there was no other option. But there is now vaccines available that people refuse to take. If this is what it takes to get us herd immunity then deaths will have to continue until we get to that 70% that we need.

It's a flue. A nasty one ,but still a flue. It's not poliomyelitis. They make it as if is a plague or the end of the world. 1600 cases, officially, and 40 hospitalized. That means less than 3%. Most of them will make it out of Peebles alive. Stop panicking ppl. It's not the case.
This virus revealed here and everywhere in the world vulnerabilities that have been buit over a long period of time through bed health strategies, bed lifestyles etc. Those are the causes for the vast majority of the covid deaths. This virus was the straw that broke the camel's back. Pay more attention to proper hygiene and start changing your lifestyle for the better if you need to. Cut the junk from your diet. Prioritize your health on a daily basis.

Dude dropped logical numbers your dropping insults. Realistically the cases have to be at minimum 2x or more of the 1600 documented.

This has always been a virus that affected a small portion of the population however for that portion it is very dangerous.

I find it irresponsible that we’re working with ventilators as a main treatment when they were used at the very start of the pandemic as if there’s been no developments in terms of in hospital treatment.

Not only that but ventilators can cause phenomena before covid began. Its a respiratory disease. No one wants to go on a ventilator as it’s a recipe for disaster.

I read in a doctors surgery in Readers Digest 20 years ago or more. Its was a section of a book called the VIRUS hunter written in 1991. This predicted the pandemic and the origin and they warned about it all those years ago. One if the Scientists who were dealing with the Ziare 1970's outbreak was writing the book. Its been a ticking time bomb but I never thought it would happen even though it said it would happen in our life time.

Your thinking is outdated and ancient and in touch only with the period dinosaurs walked the earth. "Most of them will make it out of Peebles Hospital" you are so cold blooded. What about the family of those who would not? The idea here is to avoid going to the hospital in the first place AND THAT MEANS TO GET VACCINATED

Are reporting on BVI. I was reading a st.lucia paper and they are crediting the vi spike to cruise ships. Needless to say constituents are being warned in various countries abt the BVI. You might as well lockdown because NOBODY is coming there. Government needs to take charge and stop following others as your situation is completely different from others. Where I live an infected person who has nowhere to isolate is placed in a quarantine hotel to avoid any contact with others. Staff is hired to monitor the individuals daily. Spend all those misappropriated funds appropriately. Ppl testing positive and going home to live with family no wonder it’s not stopping the spread.

When are we going to get a choice with the vaccines? There are some of us who wants to take the vaccine but are being advise by medical experts that the astrazenneca might not be the right one due to certain under lying and pre-existing medical conditions. I am one of those persons. I don't mine if i have to pay I am already paying for all my medical expenses this will be no different. Free things aren't always the best. I am asking the government to allow other type of vaccines into the island. Please.
