Another EE resident wins big in Digicel promotion!
That feeling quickly changed, with of course some bits of doubts, when he received a call from a Digicel representative indicating that he had won the first spot on one of twelve chairs set aside for customers to participate in yesterday’s [December 19, 2013] big draw for a chance at carting away $12,000.
“I just wasn’t looking forward to any Christmas because I was broke and got commitments but now that’s all changed. I will have one of the best Christmases because I have money, I have money, thanks to Digicel, thanks to God, life is so, so…” he said as he was still in some shock and loss for words.
Mr Walters is a Virgin Islander who hails from the sister island of Virgin Gorda but now resides at East End, Tortola. He said the winning is more than enough to take care of his monthly bills. “I can pay my rent, I can maintain my vehicle and a few other commitments that I have on a monthly basis. But for sure I will be saving, not spending lavishly but smart and also ensure that I have Christmas this year.”
Today, December 20, 2013 he will be back in the store once again, not for another competition but rather to uplift his first cheque of $1,000 which is the amount he will be collecting for twelve months in succession.
As part of the Christmas promotion, twelve persons who would have done business with Digicel as at the 6:30 P.M. tick of the clock yesterday and had either received a call or were present at the flagship store last evening had a teasing emotional chance at walking out the grand prize.
“There were several prizes up for the winning tonight. As you saw, persons won cell phones, got gift vouchers and other gifts all because they participated in the promotion. But the catch was the gift hamper with that envelope that said $12,000 and tonight that lucky person was Shane Walters,” said Digicel’s Marketing Public Relations Executive Ms Jasmine Perez.
“The promotion catered for all our customers, there were persons who were contract customers who have paid a bill or sign up for a service and those who have topped up $15 or more during a given period,” Ms Perez added.
The flagship store was filled to capacity with customers in the hope of becoming a winner or just to cheer on and support those who were fortunate to win a chance at vying for the big dollars. “This is massive; this is one of the largest in-store crowds for a Digicel competition that I have ever seen. The beauty is that it’s happening at the best time or our favourite time of year, Christmas, the season of cheers and goodwill and Digicel is making such a difference in people’s lives here,” declared the moderator of the drawing, Mr Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart.
During the last quarter of this year another Virgin Islander and resident of East End, Tortola walked away with a brand new car from one of Digicel’s biggest promotions of the five years they have been in existence in the Virgin Islands.

Congrats to the guy remember the $12,000 is not yours its for the landlord, so he would be waiting on that money to cover your rent for the year.................so the landlord needed to be there to rejoice on his win lololol
