ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- This Christmas Eve, one lucky man or woman will be driving away in a fully loaded black and silver 2017 Hyundai Tucson from the Delta Petroleum compound in Pasea Estate, when the latest raffle by the Rotary Club of Road Town takes place.

Last evening, Thursday October 20, 2016, the Club held the official soft launch of its fundraising initiative on the grounds of the Tortola Pier Park. Tickets costing $10 were also on sale.

The car’s estimated value is $34,000.

Proceeds from the raffle will be going towards educational advancement, a dialysis machine for Peebles Hospital as well as bus shelters.

Early bird winnings

Vice President of the Rotary Club of Road Town, Gordon U. French told Virgin Islands News Online that in an effort to encourage early tickets purchase, there will be three early bird drawings. The first will take place on Saturday October 29, 2016, the second on November 16, 2016 and the final on December 10, 2016.

Every early bird winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and that winning ticket will go back in for the grand raffle on Christmas Eve.

French said despite the perception of the numerous car raffles taking place, this one is not only unique and costing $10, it is to assist the club in helping the community, while at the same time, get a chance to win a “beautiful car.”

“So the more tickets you buy the better your chances,” President of the Club, Nelcia St. Jean added. “All the funds from the raffle go back into the community. That is the reason why we are raising funds, to be able to do our community projects and to improve the BVI.”

Tickets can be bought from all Rotarians, at NAGICO Insurance, FLOW, The Sports Club, Delta, TAG, and Captain Mulligans.

The partners of the raffle are Tortola Auto Group, FLOW, NAGICO Insurance and Delta Petroleum.
