Anegada horse to face Pure Speight in feature Festive Finish race

ESTATE BOVONI, St Thomas, USVI- The hopes of the Virgin Islands will rest on the back of Anegada horse Fighting Back when the feature clash of the Festive Finish horse racing card is held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Clinton E. Phipps Sr Racetrack in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Fighting Back of Francis Racing Stables and trained by Omarie Smith will be running in only its second race at Clinton E. Phipps Sr Racetrack, but will have to contend with the likes of St Croix horse Pure Speight, which destroyed the competition in the feature race of the Salute to Service races on November 9, 2025.

Other top horses in the feature race on December 21, 2025, will be Emmett, Ice Road and Grand Tower.

Notably absent in the 1-mile Open showdown for Class A horses for a purse of $18,000 will be Floki’s Flight and former Governor’s Cup Champion, Ghostinyou.

Anegada and Tortola horses will feature in the 5th race of the 7-race card, with Class A horses Unsociable (Anegada) and Laser Sharp (Tortola) looking to gallop to glory over 6 furlongs for a purse of $16,500.

Also in the mix will be Mundo Mix and Friar Laurence. Mundo Mix was a winner at the recent Salute to Service races.

Return ferry to STT

Horse racing fans from the Virgin Islands can reserve their seats on the ferry, Ocean Dreams, which is designated for the races.

Ocean Dreams will depart West End at 10:30 AM and depart Red Hook at 7:00 PM.

A free shuttle from Red Hook to Clinton E. Phipps Sr Racetrack and return will also be offered by Ocean Dreams.

Ferry tickets must be purchased by December 20 at 5:00 PM.

    The amount of pot holes we have on Tola those horses cannot even walk here.

    Perfect. No need for our local business people to have to spend there hard earned cash building a race track in Tortola.

    And never a need for the Government to spend the peoples money on a racetrack if the business people who have money don't want to.
