MIAMI, Florida, USA- The sentencing hearing for former Premier of the [British] Virgin Islands Andrew A. Fahie will now take place on June 25, 2024, instead of April 29, 2024.

The sentencing hearing date was adjusted after Fahie’s attorney Theresa M. Van Vliet made a request for it because of her unavailability for the initial date.

Van Vliet also successfully argued before Judge Kathleen M. Williams that more time was needed to address potential objections to the pre-sentencing report.

Judge Williams granted the motion on April 4, 2024.

Fahie facing a minimum 10 years in prison

Fahie, 53, was found guilty on February 8, 2024, on several counts of drug smuggling, money laundering, and racketeering, after he was arrested at a Miami Airport on April 28, 2022.

In a rare move; however, Judge Williams subpoenaed two jurors who expressed some misgivings over the process.

On Thursday, March 7, 2024; however, only one juror showed up in the judge’s courtroom.

In a series of short questions, Judge Williams asked the one juror whether her guilty verdicts at the end of Fahie’s Feb. 8 trial were actually her decision. The female juror’s response: “Yes.”

With that answer, Williams allowed the 12-person jury’s guilty verdicts to stand, leaving Fahie vulnerable to a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years up to life in prison on the main charge of conspiring to import cocaine through the British territory into the United States.

His case keeps getting pushed back until he has served his time. By the time it gets to trial, they will have to dismiss him and allow him to come home. What a pitiful justice system they have.

The trial wrapped up weeks ago. He was found guilty. This is the sentencing, now being delayed because of his attorney, no fault of judge

The conspiracy to punish is now very clear, all of them involved, judge, defense lawyer, prosecutor..Andrew please get a new attorney from the US Virgin Islands and start planning your appeal. Avoid those big city lawyers..The same reasons why Kortel won his appeal, you are going to win yours. You maybe guilty but your trial was messed up with procedures irregularities..

Why do you think a US VI attorney would do a better job? And, how is a delay in sentencing a conspiracy to punish? If anything, it favors Fahie who gets to live in his daughter’s apartment for an extra two months. Does seem like an unusually long vacation for his attorney though…

Reading is fundamental so is understanding. There is no conspiracy. Vliet has a planned and paid for vacation fir that date so she would out of the country. She will need more time to plan for the pre sentencing report. This is the USA where things are done by the book not Zamunda!!

Thanks for the complement and confidence. If I was andy Lawyer he would have been freed. Don't get me wrong. I think he is guilty but his Lawyer is very weak..I would have put the lady Sylvester on the defense witness list, send her a subpoena make the trial about her, insist she come and say what she knows and how deep she was involved and what part she played. What did she told the agent....Easy acquittal .

Except your missing the fact that Lady Sylvester is a foreign national and not in custody of the United States. She would have no obligation or be compelled by any subpoena issued by an American court, so again that would be a wasted defense tactic. Andrew’s only reasonable defense is for him to appeal his right to diplomatic immunity all the way until it gets to the Supreme Court. It was decided somewhat in the Noriega case but perhaps he stands a chance of a judicial review to revisit some circumstances that Noreiga had which he didnt. Other than that….he will rot in prison.

Giving him enough time to stop wasting the prosecution 's time and first be honest, then come clean and receive some leniency.

Please show him in his prison uniform and not suit and tie. This man's contribution to the BVI is corruption, the COI, a conviction for smuggling drugs, and years of embarrassment for the territory.

If you're a BVI 'insider' belonger, you have a friend in Washington. Why haven't several other BVI government leaders been arrested or charged? Including those who run or in the RVIPF. The second they set foot in US territory they should be arrested by US agents. Nope, won't happen. Fahie is a very rare situation indeed. Maybe despite his predicament, someone in Washington is wavering about whether to bail him out of the whole mess. Biden and Obama always bend the rules for Caribbean criminals. If you make it worth their while. Usually things are manipulated to keep the tourist industry going and Americans coming to spend money in the BVI. They balance things out between justice and $$$. They should arrest 'Sappy' if he sets foot on US soil though, and a few police and Carrot Bay sleazebags. But again, its all based on not stopping the money flow. If tourists to the beautiful BVI knew how that beauty is only skin deep, they might not come,, and the cruise ship lines might stay clear, out of safety reasons.
