MIAMI, Florida, USA- Former Premier of the Virgin Islands Mr Andrew A. Fahie, through his attorney, has made a request for a delay on his trial for alleged drug smuggling and money laundering conspiracy, according to court documents seen by Virgin Islands News Online (VINO).

The former First District Representative, who retired from active politics recently, also wants to know the identity of the confidential informant who gathered more than 8,000 minutes of audio recordings of him allegedly plotting drug smuggling and other crimes.

Fahie’s attorney filed an ‘unopposed’ motion with the US District Court in Miami on Monday, November 28, 2022, asking that the drug smuggling and money laundering trial be pushed back from January to no sooner that May 8, 2023, because prosecutors were still transcribing the recordings.

Fahie wants disclosure of informant’s identity

Fahie’s attorney Theresa M.B. Van Vliet had initially sought the identity of the informant in August but withdrew the request only to ask again in October. In the Monday court filing, Fahie’s lawyer promised not to make the identity public.

“The government responded to the undersigned’s request on October 26, 2022, and declined to provide the undersigned with the identity of the confidential informant, nor other related information sought in the request,” the lawyer wrote. “Owing to the government’s refusal to confirm, or refute, the identity of the confidential source, the undersigned is required to submit the matter to the court and anticipates doing so immediately after the Thanksgiving holiday.”

Mr Fahie, former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard and her son Kadeem S. Maynard were arrested on April 28, 2022. Fahie and Ms Maynard were arrested in Miami and Mr Maynard in the US Virgin Islands.

The trio has pleaded not guilty to the various charges.

Mr Fahie is out on bail since June but has been ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and not leave his daughter’s Florida apartment.

Ms Pickering-Maynard and her son Kadeem remain imprisoned.

Really? Informants are protected so they can continue giving information to their higher-ups. If they start disclosing the names of the informants, that could be a death trap for them, and there would be no more information givers to help them out. Mr. Fahie, don't hold your breath on this one, plus your attorney should inform you that this might be going nowhere.

Pray that the dirty stinking men in the BVI stop molesting the young girls including some of their own family members.Pray that the dirty stinking men in the BVI stop trying to have relationships with their own family members IE cousins. You said it well! But for those a little slow in comprehension, the statement is saying 'All disgusting, nasty, disgraceful, shameless, hardback so call men living in the BVI ( all nationalities to include locals) not saying men from BVI ( locals) alone. Haters quick to jump in and chime or call down BVI (local) men period.

Fahie Lawyer knows better, that won't happen. An informant is a private and confidential source, . "Then they take him out" She may have the opportunity to cross examind if he is fighting the case.. He is holding on to every straw. .This is too much for him..He can't win. .Better off take a plea deal.

For being the good lawyer she is suppose to be, she should know better. Andrew is getting desperate and trying to find every angel he can to not face Jan 9th 2023. NO INFORMANT IDENTY IS REVILED. MAYBE HERE IN THE BVI THEY DO THINGS LIKE THAT. DUDE, TAKE WHATEVER TIME YOU ARE GOING TO GET BE IT 5 OR 10 YEARS, AT LEAST YOU WILL EAT GOOD, FREE MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE. YOU MIGHT EVEN MEET SOME OF THE WALL STREET CROOKS FOR INSIDER CRIMES.

I agree, he is better off taking a plea deal and get it over with. Damnnnnn, I bet he is missing a good ole BVI CHRISTMAS. Last year he was up and down riding in the back of a truck spreading Christmas joy not knowing in four months he will be riding in the back of a DEA SUV because he is to big to fit in a squad car on his way to central booking.

The former Premier, Andrew A. Fahie, and the other two that plead not guilty of Money Laundering Charges do need honest and faithful prayers. However, we should not forget that a mango tree does not bear prickly pear fruit. A farmer knows what kind of fruit to expect according to the type of seeds that he or she has sown.
Should we expect the laws of nature to change to suit our desires rather than God's? Should we expect the sun to rise in the West rather than the East, according to our perspective?
In spite of, I hope that the former Premier, and the other two, will get a fair trial, when the time comes.

Scripture verse: Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he reap. For the people of the BVI, no difference should be expected, sooner or later. God's will be done.

It's ironic to see that your own people go against you with hate especially being anonymous, Mr. Fahie with utmost respect I'll say hold your head up high and ease the mind....I would never knock your hustle because generally speaking many of us had thoughts on what you did and tried, many of us tried it but most of us does forget where we came from and the skeletons we have in our closet.....my only disappointment Mr.fahie is you not covering and being a through leader for the BVI because I would want to believe many of the VI population would have stand firm, sign petition and get the needed help to get you home to run a country how it should....... you fail the people you had access to government funds to take care of the VI and also you and your boys could have done it without touching the GOV kitty you fail the people of the VI Mr.fahie not because you took ah step to make money but because you wasn't doing what's right with the money you already had...I wish you all the best on this journey hold the faith and at the end of the day your ah VI man it's what we know is just who got the heart and brains to do it right....BTW in my opinion good move on the a disclosure of the informant buy time...you didn't take ah plea deal right away and you won't get back that one so I understanding buying time at the end of the day a time has come....request the lawyer to know who the informant is through the chambers the lawyer is under oath and the blood/body would be on her hands get her to cross examine why they choose that specific individual to be in contact with you..... 8,000 minutes is a lot of minutes.....I would understand and think that it's not that you don't know who it is but is to get them on the stand because you may have something to go against this person, if it is a person, to be able to set you free.....try anything, everything come home it's the better place to be and for the record Mr.fahie has never gave anything in life I have never begged or ask him for anything whether it's personal or through his leadership, I have never spoken to this man in my life never asked or begged him for anything personally or through his leadership and I don't care to cause all of them full ah @:*&^ but you still human and still one of we.....I NEED LAND DOE I NEED @(^$$ LAND....your father Ralph leave ayo a lot of land in VG start to share out them thing give the people....ayo greedy MS I understand why yuh is where yuh is start do good and you be out yuh situation fast....or more deep in loooool but hold up daddeh!!! If yuh come out before I get land I want land and I going press you for it.....
