DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – In remarks delivered today, May 5, 2022, in the House of Assembly shortly after moving a motion for the removal of current Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) as leader of the Virgin Islands (VI), Acting Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) says the territory must send a clear message that Hon Fahie is no longer its leader.

Speaking during the Second Sitting of the Fourth Session of the 4th House of Assembly in Duff's Bottom, Dr Wheatley told the House, “Hon Andrew A. Fahie has long the moral authority to be able to lead the Virgin Islands.”

On April 28, 2022, Premier Fahie, 51, was detained in Miami by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on charges related to conspiracy to import a controlled substance and money laundering in the US, following a US sting operation.

BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) Managing Director, Olivine Pickering-Maynard and her son Kadeem S. Maynard were also separately arrested in the same DEA sting.

VI must stand in unity - Dr Whealtey

During today’s sitting, Dr Wheatley told the HoA, “We have to stand united and send the message not only to the rest of the world, but to ourselves, he cannot lead the people of the Virgin islands any longer,” Dr Wheatley added.

The Acting Premier said; however, that his statement does not mean that Hon Fahie is being condemned, rather, he in his private moments will have to pray and ask repentance as well as seek forgiveness.

“He will have to look himself in the mirror and use this experience, which no doubt will be a very difficult one for him personally, he will have to accept the consequences of his actions. So I do not come to condemn but I hope and pray that this experience… will be what he needs to improve as a person,” Dr Wheatley added.

Meanwhile, the Motion to remove Premier Fahie was seconded by Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5).

I think you are misinterpreting what moral authority is. The Ag. Premier is right. Let me share three quotations - read them and then ask yourself if you can honestly say that Mr. Fahie, whether declared innocent or guilty, now has the confidence of the people of the BVI and of the other players on the global platform on which we operate. Growing up, I always heard the phrase that "Caesar's wife must be above reproach".

"Because power corrupts, society's demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases." John Quincy Adams
"If you don't have integrity, you have nothing. You can't buy it. You can have all the money in the world, but if you are not a moral and ethical person, you really have nothing." Henry Kravis
"Live in such a way that if someone spoke badly of you, no one would believe it." Source Unknown

If you are suspected of having your hand in the cookie jar you are innocent until proved guilty.

If you are caught with your hand in the cookie jar , you are guilty.

HI Natalio - has greed and power taken over from Due Process?
The wolf pack that is now tearing at the fat living carcass are not looking like a good option for a Nation in need of a new way forward. Once they were supporters complicit in all the Government actions shown to be flawed in the COI.
Now want to be the founders a One Party State.
What happened to the calls for Democracy? You do not have that in a One Party State. (Think Russia.)

And what is the BVI supposed to due while Fahie is having his due process? Wait for his court case to be determined before we continue to be a territory? If Fahie had died the deputy would be premier so it goes. This is only until elections or the UK takes over just relax

Why would you want someone that has been accused/involve in this behavior to lead your Country?? He is innocent until proven guilt but has NO morals when he let himself even be associated with this. Come on man, get some dignity about yourself and Country!!!

Andrew have betrayed, humiliated and sold all of us in the territory out. The territory is hurt behind the betrayal. Life goes on. The charges is very serious. Andrew may spend the rest of his life in a Federal prison. Time to move on. It is what it is.

According to the he new appointed Premier Go. Natalio Sajande Wheatley, his former boss, Andrew A. Angie has lost his moral authority to remain Premier of the BVI. The truth is that he was given political authority to lead the BVI as Premier of this country, but he was not fit mortally, socially, and spirituality, neither are you, Hon. Natalio Sajande Wheatley.
We were robbed many millions of dollars by our own local politicians over many years unjustly. The UK sent the CoI to help, they said, to bring us to the level of good governance,. Under tts, the Uk's CoI efforts, and recommendation, we are obligated to pay them millions of dollars, and what they mainly did was abolished our opposition, and formed a so-called unity government, something that they themselves will not ccepted for their own country, knowing that is dies not, and will not work for them.
It is impossible for two opposite minds of views to work as one successfully. This is the main reason why this patched up government that the UK has put together, to lead us is doomed to fail. Two can't work in unison except they first agreed. What the UK has proposed for us, they the people of the UK will not accept for their own country. A true good government has its beginnings with hearts mended with the unbreakable glue if love, God's kind of love, nothing more, nothing less. Until then, all our plans will not get us any closer to good governance in the British Virgin Islands. The UK has tricked us again, believe it or not.
