ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islands News Online’s sources around the Virgin Islands are reporting that several American stars, including the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan and rapper Lil Wayne, have chosen the Virgin Islands as their destination for the Old Year’s/New Year’s Day celebration.

It is reported that Jordan entered the Territory at West End yesterday December 29, 2011 and was spotted at Pussers among other places.

This trip could very well be Jordan’s engagement party as Yahoo is reporting that the NBA legend is reportedly engaged to longtime girlfriend and Cuban-born model Yvette Prieto. The couple has been dating for more than three years.

“A Jordan spokeswoman first confirmed the news to WCNC in Charlotte, NC, that he popped the question on Christmas,” the Yahoo website stated.

Prieto is 32 years old, while Jordan is 48. This would be Jordan's second marriage.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan is a former American professional basketball player, active entrepreneur, and majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. He is considered by many as the greatest basketball player of all time and was instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s.

The other celebrity guests to grace the Virgin Islands are rapper/actor Ludacris; comedian/actor Kevin Hart and the beautiful actress Kerry Washington.

It is reported that the guests have been staying on yachts and at the outer island resorts.

Kerry Washington is known for her roles as Ray Charles's wife, Della Bea Robinson, in the filmRay (2004), as Idi Amin's wife Kay in The Last King of Scotland, and as Alicia Masters, love interest of Ben Grimm, The Thing, in the live-action Fantastic Four films of 2005 and 2007. This is not a good thing we want our BVI to be run and owned by locals we would like them to just spend their money and leave. And we want that they be treated like any other tourist . That will make us special that we are not touched by their money or fame.
