ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Carvin Malone (AL) has revealed that unvaccinated persons are in the majority when it comes to COVID-19 hospitalisations in the Virgin Islands (VI).

The Minister made the statement on an episode of JTV The Big Story broadcasted on Facebook on January 16, 2022, and noted that the situation in the VI has coincided with trends across the region.

Hon Malone disclosed that some 80% of persons taken to hospitals due to COVID-19 were unvaccinated and that the adult population is mostly being impacted.

“We have seen where they are a number of my senior gems, they are the ones who are vulnerable in some large regards,” he added.

He reminded that many of the restrictions have already been eased like curfews and on arrival travel COVID-19 testing for fully vaccinated persons; however, persons must still adhere to protocols.

There are currently 397 active COVID-19 cases in the VI, according to testing done on January 25, 2022, and reported the following day.

Just like every place in the world pushing this AGENDA. Why is it so important to vaccinate everyone but it's not important to stop hunger, price hike, rent control and the list goes on. Why is important to give this Vaccine to protect people but you won't give free insulin, heart transplant, a cure for cancer not treatment, and the list goes way on and on. The Unvaccinated smart people won't go to the hospital at the end times because we know the deception is real.

Why is it push so hard I guess because starting next month numerous countries won't be able to access their bank account without the vaccine. Sound like full control of the masses. Keep staying sleep and listening to these politicians all over the world they will definitely lead you down the wrong path

Stop being such a damn liar to stir up confusion. What part of the hospital do you work? In the kitchen or mopping floors? How do you know this? Unless someone is accessing patients records and talking. You know you are so lying. The majority of the hospital staff knows patient information and they spread it like wildfire on the outside. NO WONDER MOST PEOPLE CHOOSE TO CHECK INTO THE PRIVATE CLINIC OR GO OVERSEAS FOR MEDICAL CARE.

Even if you work at the Hospital in Nursing or the Nursing Department, which is hard for me to believe, that is a violation of patients rights.

They need to clarify that the 80% that were hospitalized as unvaccinated make up 1% of total infections. This means that recently of the nearly 1500 people totally infected, there were about 12 to 15 people (1%) who showed severe symptoms who needed to go hospital. Now Mr malone is telling us that 10 out of the 12 people (80%) were unvaccinated...... however the concern that people have are the LIKELIHOOD of ending up with severe symptoms not catching covid.... Using their own numbers the truthful thing to say to the people Mr Malone is that the unvaccinated stand a 0.008% chance of having SEVERE reaction. But I understand why you seem to pick parts and pieces of the equation to push the agenda. 85% of the population is estimated to have below average math skills so no wonder there is so much confusion......80% is a big expression for a very very small number....

I think its time the health ministry be transparent and stop playing this one sided game. They need to let the public know what was the ratio of the last outbreak between the vax and the unvax because in the bvi the majority of the positive and sick cases were vaccinated and most of the said it and they even wondered why did they get covid and the government told them if they get vaccinated they would not catch it.(Red Flag)Most of the offices that were shut down was because of sick vaccinated staff but that was kept quiet. Now let the public know how much of the vaccinated persons in the bvi have died?(It was suppose to prevent hospitaliztion and death. You have not heard anything about vaccinated people who have died. In USA one of the news outlet stated that 98% of the omicron cases were vaccinated and that should raise a red flag.makes one wonder if that variant was a cover up for the side effect.

      @Being vigilant.

You on point. Just like you I know dozens of vaccinated persons who have gotten the full blown virus and one or two even hospitalized. This is what happens when politics get mixed up with public health.

He lost my vote a while ago but this does not help in winning me back. Best he had stayed quiet.

Tell the people the truth Carvin!

All I could say is WOW! How can a sitting Minister be so reckless with the facts.

First of all the 80% unvaccinated for what period is that? Is it since the beginning of the pandemic or just this surge December- January? If you truly want to know how effective the vaccinations are in this current surge of omricon then the Data must be for this period. The effectiveness of the vaccines has waned due to the mutation of the virus and due to the decrease in antibodies after 3-6 months. Data across the globe is showing that predominantly the vaccinated are being hospitalized so why it is it so different here in the BVI?

Remember back in July the vaccination rate was 20-30 % so it was to be expected that the majority of people in the hospital would be unvaccinated.

You can fool some people some time, but you can't fool all the people all the time. Stay woke.

Mr. Royston Roberts, a native of SVG and a very long-time resident of this country has passed away. Mr. Roberts is known to many as Robby or Pack-It and is respected by many residents of the BVI. While his death has not been announced, we understand that a memorial service will be held for him tomorrow at the Funeral Chapel in Pasea from 11 am to 12 noon and we are sure that many who loved and respected him will be grateful for an opportunity to pay their last respects to a very kind, humble and decent man. Go and take you eternal rest peaceful, Robby...

People are very gullible. The news said get one shot and you'll be fine, then two for full protection, now the first booster, now second booster so when will the shots end. The scientist that you all Believe said you was protected now their saying the vaccine only last 3 months which is Pfizer and moderna. Then they said the omocron is not strong enough to fight off the virus. Now they're saying the virus is coming from the vaccine. Wait what...and you all still trust them and call us conspiracy theorist. Look that meaning up because they use that name years ago when people started finding out the Truth so they call us conspiracy theorist to make us look crazy.

    I am lost honestly.
Mr. Health Minister I ask your clarity in this story you drop here.
Which other argue amongst themselves I need to know

How sure are you of what you are saying?

Are you being 100% honest about your claims or you trying to push an agenda here?

Has the vaccines offered finally pass health regulatory approval?
the vaccines was only made available as a clinical trial with no actual proof that it works I just had to put that out there for the ignorant ones who will have something to say about my answer. Most say facts but don't want the facts.
