ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Members of the public had the esteemed pleasure of touring the Premier’s Eagle Cruise Line (PECL), where they visited different sites on deck and lounged in the DOIT Café dining area where they were treated to an assortment of refreshments.

The Premier’s office was transformed yesterday May 24, 2012, into a cruise ship, dubbed the ‘Premier’s Eagle Cruise Line’ with the Premier Dr. D. Orlando Smith himself in control of the ship as Senior Captain.

It was the Open House aspect of Public Service Week, where Government departments had an opportunity to showcase to the public their respective operations.

Rosalie Adams, Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s office, Team D Captain and Onboard Captain of the PECL, said it was the team’s idea to portray a cruise line, seeing that it is one of the areas the Minister for Tourism is responsible for.

She stated that ‘passengers’ visiting the cruise line received a very informative tour to different sites (departments) on deck.

“In each department the passengers were informed on the public services headed by the Premier and the different departments under our team.”

Upon taking the tour the passengers were able to grasp as much information as they can about the different departments in depth, along with getting to know the staff of that specific department.

Each visitor who visited the PECL went through standard procedures as that of entering any normal Cruise Ship.

They passed through immigration, as well as Customs' screening.
The complete tour of the ship took each passenger to meet and greet the Onboard Captain, Captain Adams who then turned them over to ship agents who provided tour services through the Premier’s Eagle Cruise Line to the different sites.

“The tour agents are there to ensure that the passengers get to every site safely and understand what is being done.”

The sites on the ship were; Immigration Department, Customs department, Development Island, Planning isle, Ministry of Finance, Cays and Islets, Information Cay, Shipping Rock, BVI Tourist Board, Trade Cay, DOIT Café, Information Finance Centre, International Affairs Secretariat and the BVI Post Office.
