Activities for Culture & Tourism Month rescheduled

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development Joseph Smith-Abbott has stated that the ministry and its partners remain committed to providing high-quality cultural and tourism-focused activities throughout the Territory.

This commitment comes in light of the recent announcement regarding the rescheduling of several events planned for Culture and Tourism Month 2025.

The Ministry had outlined a month full of activities to celebrate Culture and Tourism Month, under the theme 'Rooted in Culture, Growing Through Tourism'. This observance celebrates the Territory’s heritage and the growth of the local tourism industry.

In a press statement, Smith-Abbott emphasised, “The activities so far have been a tremendous success and the following are being rescheduled to ensure optimal participation, enhanced experiences, and successful event delivery.”

Activities rescheduled

The rescheduled activities include:

  • Launch of the Virgin Gorda Historical Tour Manual*: Now set for Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Rock Café, Virgin Gorda.
  • ⁠Opening of the Virtual Reality Museum*: Rescheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Crafts Alive Village.
  • Emancipation Festival Forum*: The date and location for this event will be announced at a later time. This forum, initially scheduled for November 25, has been postponed, along with the Fungi Workshop.

Smith-Abbott expressed, “The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of these events being rescheduled, and solicits the continued support of the public, partners, and stakeholders as we work to deliver meaningful and memorable cultural and tourism experiences.”
