Active COVID-19 cases in VI reduce to 899

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – After peaking at some 1387 active COVID-19 cases, the Virgin Islands continues to see a decline in infections, according to the latest information released by local health authorities.

According to the Territory’s Epidemiological Summary, there are currently 899 active cases recorded in the VI due to testing done on January 16, 2022, and reported on January 17, 2022.

The bulk of the active cases, 705, is on Tortola.

Meanwhile, there are 9 hospitalisations due to COVID-19.

    Deepest condolences to the families of the dearly departed.

    So deaths increase by 5 but the only info garnered from this epidemiological summary is a decrease in positive cases and a decrease in hospitalizations(which may have been caused by the deaths). Just slipped that in without any explanation. Unbelievable.

    Hmm normally they would come on live to say the deaths were unvaccinated but they know it's the vaxxed ppl that passed away but keeping it hush hush. Notice we ain't hear a thing????

    The lies and deceit have started all over again. Cases down, hospitalized numbers down (5 deceased, 2 released) and govt wants business as usual? School should not be open. People infected have been sick for weeks in a lot of cases, and are fully vaccinated. Once again you’re forcing us to have to trust people to do the right thing even though time has proven that most don’t. Sick people are up and down the place claiming it’s the flu. I think it’s time to stand up. We can’t accept this.

    I'm watching and seeing almost 100 thousand in the stands having fun enjoying life, that's the way life is meant to be..Never heard a commentator not one talking about Covid. Only we our leaders in the Caribbean always over reacting showing off their powers or using Covid to always be in the news and get some fame..Let people live.. Do we know in the Covid Era more people here died of Cancer than Covid why they don't be concern about that.. Yet the blowing up Covid to create fear just to push vaccine... Sacrificing their own economy to please corrupt WHO.. Who don't care about us..

    Wow, cases going down, and we did it all without locking people in their homes, closing borders or shutting down businesses. It's almost like Omicron is a seasonal virus that can't be controlled by anything we do. Weird!
