GREATER GEORGETOWN, Guyana- Acting Commissioner of Police (CoP) Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, who many are backing to be confirmed to the post, recently said she has no fears attending a conference in Guyana this week.

Ms Vanterpool and her team are currently in Georgetown, Guyana, for the 39th Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) Annual General Meeting and Conference.

Among the twenty-five visiting Commissioners in Guyana, Acting Commissioner Vanterpool is one of three female Commissioners in attendance.

The other female Commissioners are Commissioner Shanta Knowles of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Deputy Commissioner Dr Mashena Sealey of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

Photographs shared by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) show Vanterpool in attendance at various functions, interacting with the other commissioners and also meeting the President of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and the Commissioner of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Clifton Hicken.

The 2025 ACCP Annual General Meeting and Conference is being held under the theme ‘United in Action, Transformed in Purpose: Building an Integrated Caribbean Security Architecture’.

It is being held at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, Railway Embankment Road in Greater Georgetown.

'No fear!'

In an interview with JTV Channel 55 on May 9, 2025, before leaving the Territory for Guyana, the Acting CoP was asked if there was any sense of “discomfort” in travelling to Guyana following the unrest in certain parts of the country following the death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge on April 24, 2025.

Ms Cathy O. Richards asked her, “Are you very comfortable with going there in this season?”

“Certainly, Cathy, I am,” Acting CoP Vanterpool answered.

Ms Vanterpool explained that attendees of the conference and meeting are being engaged with a packed agenda. The conference, which began on Monday, May 12, will end on Friday, May 16, 2025. Events are occurring in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, she said.

“I also have been following the news, so I am quite aware of what you are speaking of and also I have been in direct contact with Commissioner [Clifton] Hicken…and he reassured us there is absolutely nothing to worry about…we are going in ease and comfort, knowing that we are going in there in peace and we come back out in peace,” she stated.

Ms Vanterpool added that she was informed that the area where they are staying has nothing to do with the unrest that is happening due to the young girl's death.

“It’s just a sad situation, but he reassured us there’s nothing absolutely to be worried about.”

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark/VI. The UK-appointed Governor Daniel Pruce who has unilateral power is putting his “FIST” on the scale to the disadvantage of ACoP Jacqueline E. Vanterpool and non-UK applicants. The advertisement and recruitment for filling the vacant CoP was well on tge way. Clearly, the Guv wanted a fellow Britain and intervened when the applicant pool was not favoring his personal desire. He came up with some creative , convenient bullshit, personal reason(s) to stop the recruitment. It was an abuse of power. Whoa Nelly! This was not fair to Ms. Jacqueline Vanterpool and other applicants. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. ACoP is doing a superb job and deserved to be appointed as CoP., demonstrating the requisite skills, knowledge, and ability to get the job done. Virgin Islanders need to actively and genuinely rally behind Vanterpool. Let’s shed that appeaser mentality and support our own who is highly qualified and is demonstrating she can do the job. It is less about being the first woman but more about effectively doing the job which she has unequivocally demonstrated. Let’s shed the appeaser mentality, ie, it is the White man’s Burden to rescue us. Let’s not be fooled. I read on another news medium this quote by former UK PM Winston Churchill : An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile hoping one will be eaten last. Don’t be fooled, for you may be eaten first. Stop the Neville Chamberlain appeasement crap. Stop the Stockholm Syndrome behavior crap. Stop the Benedict Arnold behaviour crap. Stop the above Round Rock mentality long gone attitude. By the way who are the members of the National Security Council? Do have the balls, the stones, to act independent and do the right thing? Are they so weak, wet noodle strength, that they will follow the Mount Olympus Rep clean off the cliff. If so they don’t deserve to be representing the people of the VI. If so we should have a mangrove stick representing us.

Commissioner John Augustus Cockburn Cruikshank, another UK-appointed Rep in the late 1940s and mid-1950s , was a terror; supposed master of all he surveyed , demonstrating autocratic behavior. When the people had enough of his crap, led by national hero Theodolph Faulkner, they actively ( 1500 of them from a population of approx 7000), actively protested to get their concerns redress. The Great March of November 1949 yielded results. Daniel Pruce is exhibiting Cruikshank liked attitudes and behaviors . Let’s support ACoP Vanterpool.

Bad Timing. Whether Jackie is on the land or not, I am sure the high profile assassination will still happen. The killers know who they are after. If Jackie was in them way she too would have gotten killed. I am sure Jackie left capable people on the ground I to carry the mantle in her absence.

upon the arrival back Home lets have more police visible on Tortola road ways giving those with criminal intent something to think about-the criminals crawling all over the place like the place belongs to them and that is wrong: law enforcement is required before crimes are committed, stop waiting for crimes to be committed then running & down the place(Mr Cop)
