ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The rerouting of traffic in the heart of Road Town by Minister for Communication and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), making De Castro Street and a portion of Waterfront Drive one-way access, has been largely praised by the public.

Motorists; however, had to find alternative routes following an accident close to noon, today, June 26, 2023, at the junction of De Castro Street and Nibbs Street.

The accident involved a pickup truck and an SUV.

It appears the pickup truck was entering the usually busy De Castro Street from Nibbs Street when it came into contact with the SUV.

No injuries were reported.

Police were called to the scene.

The obstruction of traffic caused a major challenge for motorists heading in the areas of Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park and Ralph T. O'Neal Administration Complex on Wickham's Cay I.

The Police need to deal with those who continue to stop in the lane and go to the Atm. This causes a lane change and disrupt the flow of traffic almost at the intersection. Imagine this nonsense is done even on Saturdays and Sundays when the parking lots are empty. That should be an automatic ticket no warning or discussions.

Sometimes it's the same ones who should be up holding the law are doing the same thing. They are human to and subject to failure also.
Check it out and you would realize this is not a post of condemnation but yes they do the same thing. Just like the cellphone law. Sheep luck and goat luck not the same. You do it you get a ticket, they do it the eyes must go blind lol.

When entering ongoing traffic the driver must stop, use caution before entering, then proceed if it is clear. You can't just drive into the side of someone. Also, some rude impatient drivers see you trying to enter and they speed up for some reason blocking your entry. It goes both ways all of the time. Don't know who the guilty party is here.

Right of way. If you are a driver then it's obvious who is at fault.

If the drivers drive with due care and attention, display consideration for other road users, exhibit commonsense and courtesy while driving, we will minimize most of these accidents on our roads.
