ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA) was yesterday, Tuesday, January 15, 2019, forced to adjourn its sitting after the air conditioning system malfunctioned in the House.

The House would have adjourned eventually due to a long Order Paper, however, the situation with the AC saw members leaving prematurely while in Committee.

Further, this premature conclusion of the Committee came as Law Makers discussed the "Elections (Amendment) Act, 2019."  This Bill is to introduce voting machines at polling stations for the upcoming 2019 General Elections.

Therefore, the 6th Sitting of the 4th Session of the 3rd HoA will continue on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 10:00 am as confirmed by HoA Spokesman, Mr Linton V. Leonard via an email.

Is Friday the last sitting?

The Thursday session is expected to also run into Friday which may be the last, as announcements of the HoA dissolving is expected this Friday, January 18, 2019.

The Premier is also expected to meet with the United Kingdom appointed Governor, August J. U. Jaspert  aka ‘Gus’ this week to discuss a possible election date.

The HoA will be carried live on CBN Radio 90.9 FM, the Caribbean superstation or follow live online on www.cbnvirginislands.com

Look like Murphy has moved to the VI, for everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. From a historic flood (500-year) to 2 catastrophic hurricanes to political turmoil, the VI have had it.
