CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI- A Merry Cultural Christmas, a Carrot Bay Cultural Thursday Committee event celebrating the Virgin Islands' culture, cuisine, and Christmas cheer, will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

The event will be held at the Carrot Bay Festival Village Grounds from 4:00 PM.

The monthly Cultural Thursday series, in its third year, continues to grow in scope and popularity.

“This special Christmas edition will feature an expanded offering of cultural food and drinks, with particular emphasis on traditional Christmas favourites,” a press release from the committee said.

New vendors will join the regular lineup, all eager to uphold Carrot Bay’s reputation for high-quality, authentic cultural cuisine.

Complimentary sample of traditional drinks

Hon Dr Karl Dawson (R1), together with the committee, will provide complimentary samples of traditional cultural drinks, in the spirit of the season.

These samples include Maubi and gauvaberry in addition to pot bread and ham prepared on site.

“I view this event as a celebration of culture and fun, while recognising the reason for the season. We thought it fitting to share some cheer as the community gathers together,” he said.

Family-oriented activities

The event will also provide a wide range of family-oriented activities. Face painting, a bouncy house and attractions such as basketball, boxing, and a merry-go-round, a free Lucky Dip, provided by Gaming Land, will be available.

Traditional cultural games, including parent-and-child lime-and-spoon relays, ball tosses, and more, will also be available beginning at 5:00 PM.

The highlight of the evening will be a carol singing programme featuring some of Tortola’s most popular carolling groups.

Performances begin at 5:30 PM and will feature, among others, the Carrot Bay Carolers, Anointed Praise Fungi Band, Cane Garden Bay Flambeau Carolers, Foggy Mountain Boys, Acappella Fellas, Ministry of Education Singers, Culture Bearers, Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and primary schools.

DJ Shadow will provide festive music with seasonal selections throughout the night.
