81 & 73 year old American tourists die while vacationing in VI

OIL NUT BAY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Two elderly American tourists died this week while vacationing in the Virgin Islands.

Wilfred Harry Bentham, 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Oil Nut Bay, Virgin Gorda, while Charles Lee Nelson, 73, died while being transported to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital after collapsing at a property on Lambert Bay beach on Tortola on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

Bentham of California, USA, was reportedly swimming in waters off Oil Nut Bay when he began to encounter difficulties.

He was pulled out of the water by persons in the area and CPR was reportedly performed to no avail.

Mr Bentham was vacationing in the Territory with his wife.

According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, Mr Nelson of Minnesota, USA, was vacationing alone in the Virgin Islands.

He was found unconscious by a staff member of the tourist property.

Mr Nelson was reportedly scheduled to depart the Virgin Islands today, February 13, 2020.
