8 to rep VI @ 33rd OECS Swimming Championships in SVG

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Although without a dedicated pool for training, the Virgin Islands (VI) continues to make a splash in the field of swimming and intends to continue doing so at the 33rd OECS Swimming Championships in St Vincent and the Grenadines this weekend.

The VI will field eight swimmers, 5 girls and 3 boys, at the championships to be held at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre in Ratho Mill from November 7-9, 2025.

The team

The girls are Naya Bissoondutt, Skylar Steer, Evelyn Freeman, Jai Potter, and Kayla Potter.

The boys are William Vergel, Gavril Copaceanu, and Arun Bissoondutt.

Freeman and Copaceanu will be making their debut at the championships.

The Head Coach is Elsworth C. Phillip, who is also the President of the BVI Swimming Federation, and the Assistant Coach is Rebecca Nockolds.

After a 6-year hiatus, the VI returned to the OECS Championships last year when they placed 7th.

Kayla Potter’s silver was the lone medal for the VI.

    So proud and happy I always wanted to do this in the bvi growing up never got a chance too...even tho I was at a meeting or 2 to see how to go forward... proud yall keep so far from then to now. Keep doing what yall doing good vibes
