8 schools clash in 2025 Inter-Secondary Schools Chess Tournament

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Eight secondary schools are set to participate in the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports' annual Inter-Secondary School Chess Tournament.

The tournament begins today, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM and will culminates on December 13 at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. This event will unite young thinkers from across the Territory for two days of competition, strategy, and academic enrichment.

Participating schools

The eight participating schools are Cedar International School, Claudia Creque Educational Centre, Elmore Stoutt High School, St George’s Secondary School, Imagination Academy VI, Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies, Ciboney School of Excellence, and Bregado Flax Educational Centre.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Education, “The event is part of the Ministry’s Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead initiative, which highlights chess as a powerful tool for strengthening logic, emotional discipline, and strategic decision-making among students.”
