8 schools clash in 2025 Inter-Secondary Schools Chess Tournament
The tournament begins today, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM and will culminates on December 13 at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. This event will unite young thinkers from across the Territory for two days of competition, strategy, and academic enrichment.
Participating schools
The eight participating schools are Cedar International School, Claudia Creque Educational Centre, Elmore Stoutt High School, St George’s Secondary School, Imagination Academy VI, Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies, Ciboney School of Excellence, and Bregado Flax Educational Centre.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Education, “The event is part of the Ministry’s Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead initiative, which highlights chess as a powerful tool for strengthening logic, emotional discipline, and strategic decision-making among students.”
ESHS are defending champions
Last year’s tournament showcased remarkable student talent, with Elmore Stoutt High School emerging as the reigning champions in both the junior and senior categories.
Their success has set a high standard for this year’s competition, motivating teams across the Territory to practice with renewed focus and enthusiasm.
