JOHNSON’S GHUT, Tortola, VI- Eight dancers from Nouveau Royale Dance have been selected to attend summer intensives in New York City, USA.

Three dancers, Jayla Levons, Liliana Fahie, and Tyasia Cameron, will attend the SOCAPA Summer Intensive.

Shamya Gumbs, Ryann Adams, Saige Swain, Kaliyah Industrious, and Kehlani Fahie will attend Broadway Dance Center.

“These 2-week intensives are not just opportunities — they are experiences that have been earned through dedication, commitment, and preparation,” the dance company said in a Facebook post on March 22, 2026.

An incredible experience for the dancers

The dancers selected to attend SOCAPA were required to submit materials showcasing their training and ability as part of the selection process.

Nouveau Royale Dance added that the company is incredibly proud of those selected and that all the dancers chosen for both programmes have  consistently demonstrated discipline, positive attitudes, and growth throughout their journey

“This is truly an incredible experience and opportunity for our students. The programmes they will be attending are world-renowned, known for their high standards and professional-level training. Being part of environments like these allows our dancers to grow, be challenged, and gain exposure that goes far beyond what is available locally.”

The dancers attending Broadway Dance Center will take part in structured summer intensives across Musical Theatre and multiple dance styles, training in one of New York City’s most respected professional studios.

Community support welcomed

Nouveau Royale Dance said it is important to note that this journey is not only for the dancers but the community.

“We fully intend to bring back the knowledge, training, and experiences gained and implement them right here at home, contributing to the continued growth and elevation of the arts in the BVI.”

Nouveau Royale Dance said the dance company is working towards making this experience possible for the dancers as a team, and is proud to be travelling with them, along with their parents.

“We also welcome support from our community — If you or your business would like to sponsor a dancer, please reach out. All sponsorships go directly toward supporting each dancer’s journey,” Nouveau Royale Dance added.
