ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) has expressed dismay at the possibility of having to dispose of some 7000 doses of unused COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine as a result of expiration.

“In only 4 days (August 1, 2021) we will have to dispose/throw out/smash over 7,000 doses of vaccine. #NotGood,” the Minister wrote on his Facebook page today, July 28, 2021.

He went on to say, “It is very possible that a variant of concern will come to our shores. It's in St Martin and it's in the USVI. Once it arrives in the BVI our bodies must to readied to fight it off. Love me or hate me, #GETVAXX,” Honourable Malone further said.

However, even as the vaccines will expire, the Government on July 27, 2021, received a shipment of 3040 new doses of vaccines from the United Kingdom.

New vaccine shipment received

On receiving the vaccines, the Health Minister said, “It is critical that we send a message that vaccination is the key way in which we are going to get our citizens safely through this pandemic. So, we urge everyone to continue to vaccinate,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hon Malone further announced that plans are being finalised for qualified persons aged 12-18 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to get vaccinated and for those wanting other brands of vaccines to get vaccinated.

“AstraZeneca is currently in the BVI, free of cost, but if you choose to travel to USVI for the vaccine of your choice, your Government has now made it possible. The cost of BVI/USVI transportation and the antigen test shall be the responsibility of each traveller,” he said.

So many people in the world are desperate to get protected, so many people are losing their lives because they can’t get the vaccine. Here in the BVI we are stubborn, trying to score political points, losing lives we don’t need to and throwing away one oh the most precious gifts in the world
If this is BVI love it isn’t anything to be proud of.
For our territory sake for our reputation sake and for all those people that can’t get hold of W vaccine. Take your shot now.

It truly is a shame. As you say, many people and countries want and yet have no access to the protection the vaccine gives.
What I don’t AT ALL understand is the thinking that it is somehow God and Jesus wouldn’t want them to take it. To me, that makes no sense.

I only want to hear from the medical professionals on this question, if you can give a legitimate answer. WHY WAS THE COVID19 VIRUS MADE IN THE FIRST PLACE? TO KILL WHO AND WHY?

Who have eyes let them see and who have ears let them hear. Tell the truth about what happen to the children that they vaccinated in there trials. Many heart inflamations. Some crippled for life. Stop and take a look at what's happening world wide if you really care for your people. Look at both sides of the coin and dont be afraid to speak the truth even if it sounds bad on your agenda but most of all, Tell the Truth.

Malone, you need to get proper figures out for people. You don’t just wander onto some crap radio “ show “ and say oh by the way another 6 died.

And tell people who they are who are dying. Have a list not only to respect them but to show the idiots that these are real people dying , our friends and neighboursv, not just statistics. Unbelievable incompetence.

Diversity of size, colour, shape, appearance, education, financial wealth, language are not the most crucial things that cause a people of a community to fail. Devision on the mind, through ignorance, hate fostered by greed, selfishness, presidice, etc. Do. This is the sad reality of our present position in the B.V.I
Our actions and inactions determine our destiny. Chose wisely. Each life is precious.
