They can’t totally lockdown, the vaccine has been out and available to everyone, how can the government go backwards and against those that have been vaccinated in order to protect those that chose not to be protected? It’s sad, really sad and it could of been avoided

Yes they can lock down to help preserve lives of the people living there. Yes the vaccine can help prevent the severity of the symptoms but it does NOT prevent the transmission of the virus. As it is clearly out of hand and people are dying it is reasonable for the government to lock down the county to get a hold on things. Our country does not have sufficient resources especially medically to sustain an increase surge and more people will die if drastic measures aren't taken soon. They have locked down for a whole lot less than this.

The vaccine prevents you catching it and prevents you spreading it.

          Stop spreading your ignorant lies

NO IT DOES NOT. STOP SPREADING THAT STUPIDTY. IT IS PROVEN TO NOT PREVENT CATCHING OR SPREADING OF COVID. IT WAS MADE TO LESSEN THE SYMPTOMS TO STOP THE MASSES FROM DYING. IDIOT!

Point taken but remember the vaccine is not for kids so now they are at risk because of some persons refusing to get the jab. Those refusing the vaccine seeing the consequence of some of their counterpart right now but the thing is they now get the children of the bvi exposed, we need to protect the chidren now.

If the official figure on positives is 1500 then the real number will be triple that, at least, which is around 15% of the population. We all know that’s a conservative estimate. It could easily be 25% for all we know.
It’s too late to lock down and wish it away that easily. It’s like the kid who’s afraid of the dentist but won’t brush their teeth, it’s going to be really painful and it saddens me so much. The government can’t lock down because it won’t make a difference and would destroy the fragile economy and be an insult to the people that were sensible enough to take the vaccine.

It might be best to lockdown for the sake of our healthcare system. But when it comes to people catching this virus, locking down will only delay the inevitable. Covid is not going anywhere and we can’t keep locking down just because 70% of the population refuse to get vaccinated. They have made their bed.

With only 30% of the population vaccinated this is to be expected. Unfortunately, more deaths will follow.
    • @inevitable (14/07/2021, 21:46) Like (13) Dislike (1) Reply
Vaccination of as many people as possible (70% of population) is what has worked in other parts of the world. People’s fear of the vaccine needs to be addressed straight on. Fear is reasonable to feel, but it is not a reason to avoid getting vaccinated to save your life and the life of those you care for.

They need to stop all movement to help get back control on this spreading. We do not have sufficient resources in the BVI if it continues to go the way its going. Larger countries with more resources have locked down for much less than this, come on man!

So the people infected will be forced to stay at home.

    PLEASE.
    • robocop (15/07/2021, 11:30) Like (5) Dislike (2) Reply
So the rest of us have to suffer lockdown because infected people can't do as they are told and stay home? Given how widespread the community transmission seems to be, lockdown will have absolutely no effect at all. Those 1600 infected are not suddenly going to get better just because we are in lockdown.

People were warned this would happen and they chose not to listen. If the rumours are true about one of the deceased, well sympathy is going to be limited given their actions may well have contributed to the current outbreak...

I am wishing everyone the very best. Condolences to all of the families who lost loved ones. To vax or not to vax is a personal choice. Stay away from crowds, distance yourselves, wear a mask always when outside, sanitize your hands, don't rub your eyes, gargle with water and peroxide mix, cover your head with a towel, bend over a steaming bowl of water vapors with menthol rub under your nose while sitting up in a chair. Do not lay down on your lungs so you can breath. Take antibiotics . None of us know how this will end, so respect everyone's decision to do what's best for them.

I want to commend the staff of the BVIHSA for the excellent jo b that they are doing. Minister Carvin Malone and Dr. Ronald Georges pleaded with the residents to act responsibly. If the residents had taken the advice from the Epidemiologist to get vaccinated earlier, we would not have been in this situation where so many people lost their lives. I guessed that the deaths of these people would be the proof that they were waiting for. It is rather unfortunate.

Going forward, I hope we will heed the advice of the health authority. People of the Virgin Islands, this COVID-19 is no joking matter. To avoid the adverse effects of this virus, let us follow the protocols. Washing of hands, social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitize regularly. Only then we will defeat this virus.

My sencere condolence to the family members of the the latest soul that died due to the covid-19 virus. A medical problem of serious proportion as covid-19 needs a medical responce or, best yet, God our Creator Devine intervenion. Random opinions, random unproven belief, mouth bashng others, political postering etc. are useless. Honest love and obedience for God directives, practical prayers and faith, love for our neighbors, disregarding ethnical variations, couple with proven medical science, sensible disciplend must be our first steps of actions to full recovery from covid-19 deadly effects. Receive this truth; passivity is equal to stupidity. Ignorance is no different. Proven knowledge and wisdom work very well together.
